Apparently marriage is about compromises.

Be aware of mother-son enmeshment. It is a real concept where the son takes the role of a surrogate husband as the mother’s actual husband is emotionally absent, or she doesn’t have a husband. There will be a love triangle in marriage and the mother-enmeshed man will never be able to be a full husband to you, nor will his mother allow it as she will perceive you as a threat/rival.
Not all mothers raise their sons to take this role but some do. The way to avoid this is by following Islam and knowing what Allah swt has instructed us to have.
