Sabr is not simply enduring hardship—it is choosing faith over despair, self-control over impulse, and hope over hopelessness. It is the quiet strength that allows a believer to continue doing good, trusting that Allah sees every struggle and that no sincere act of patience is ever lost.

The Three Types of Sabr

1. Patience in obeying Allah
   Remaining consistent in prayer, fasting, charity, and other acts of worship even when they are difficult.

2. Patience in avoiding sin
   Resisting temptations and choosing what is right over what is easy or desirable.

3. Patience during trials and hardships

   • Facing illness, loss, disappointment, injustice, or grief with faith, hope, and trust that Allah’s wisdom is greater than what we can see.

The Most Challenging Prospect

If a prospective spouse has seemingly incredible behavior, appearance, is youthful, wealthy, has status, political power, strong network, is highly educated, very fit physique and is healthy, has an attractive voice and eloquent speech, a fun personality, high intelligence, is financially-savvy, has high drive, is fertile/virile and willing to have/support children, has haya and memorizes the Quran, knows and understands islam - but does not have the capacity, inclination or willingness to act on deen with sincerity -

They are not it. Look elsewhere.

The most valuable, high priority quality to seek is sincerity - a person who is just, evaluates matters correctly, recognize truth from falsehood which they accept and/or reject with great immediacy, accuracy and precision.

People who have this quality set are the most exceptional among us wherever they are in their journey, whether recently reverted or always reverting.

Why?
Because one can know islam, but not understand.
One can understand islam, but not act on it. But one cannot act on islam in excellence without understanding it and knowing it.
