Somewhere between packing lunches and paying bills, a lot of single parents quietly lose track of who they were before all this started. Not gone, just paused. Waiting patiently underneath the daily routine for a little room to breathe again. Funny how we remember every one of our child's favorite things, yet forget half of our own.

Any parents here with a child with special needs? What type of support are they getting, particularly in school, and are you happy with it?

I will likely move from the UAE later this year and am looking into London or maybe the US (DC area/New York) but also open to other parts of the world too. A major consideration will be a location where my autistic 10 year old can get access to good educational and speech services. At the moment she is in a mainstream setting with an aide and is progressing really well alhamdulilah. Would love to hear about different experiences (my friends in the UK have not been so positive so I need a bigger sample size).
