🐎HORSES

A few of us had sat down
at a café, our hair singed, our
chests crowded with the streets
of Tehran—our skins of daylight
having turned dark here and there.
We were a few horses having
no wings, no manes, no meadows.
We were all about running, and
with casual, soiled horseshoes
would sprint out of the streets’
choked throats.
Trees had turned into truncheons,
and we were so full of tears that
could cry for real amid
all the smoke and fire.
We were about to break
and at last pounded down
on the table the fists we
had been waving in the air.
And we hid our fists under the tables.
And we hid our fists in bed.
And we hid our fists in the kitchen drawer.
And we hid our fists inside our pockets . . .
Open my fist!
Whatever part of Tehran
I place a hand on, it is aching.
Whatever part of the day
I sit on, it is nighttime.
Wherever on the soil . . .
I didn’t have the stomach
to finish my sentence!
This poem was gunned down

Can we start talking to our parents about Abdul El Sayed and other anti genocide candidates to our elders so close to the election? So important for 🇵🇸 to make sure that our elders and people around us all vote as it could literally make a difference in who wins. We can’t just talk about being one ummah. We have to take action to show that. Repost, donate, register to vote, drive people to sites on Election Day to vote, and campaign for them. Let’s do it for Gaza!

🌙 Some Duas Are Too Precious to Share With Everyone
Not everything we hope for needs to be announced to the world. Some dreams are kept quietly between our hearts and Allah.
I believe that what is written for me will reach me at the right time, in the right way. I don't want to force what isn't meant for me, nor lose my peace chasing what Allah has not chosen for me.
Ya Allah, if something is good for my dunya and akhirah, bring it closer to me. If it is not, give my heart the strength to let it go. And never let me mistake a beautiful promise for a sincere intention. 🤍
