Sometimes I wonder whether we have made marriage more complicated than it needs to be. These days, I see many girls looking specifically for a man who is well-settled, highly educated, financially strong and established in his career. Of course, wanting stability is understandable, but should these things come before deen, character, loyalty, honesty, kindness and compatibility?
From an Islamic perspective, a person’s deen and character are among the most important qualities to consider when choosing a spouse. A successful marriage is not only about what someone earns or what he has achieved; it is also about how he treats his wife, whether he is trustworthy and caring, and whether he stands by his partner when life becomes difficult.
I’m genuinely curious: Have our expectations for marriage become too focused on financial status and being “well-settled”? Or are these expectations reasonable in today’s world? What does Islam teach us to prioritize when choosing a spouse?

A year ago, everything was different. And now that I look back, I realize that a year can do a lot to a person🤍
It's strange how you don't notice yourself changing while it's happening.
Then one day, you look back and realize just how far
you've come.🤍🕊
