Converts / Reverts

In Islam, there is a well-known principle expressed in the hadith:

“Islam destroys what came before it.”
— Sahih Muslim

The meaning is that when a person sincerely embraces Islam, their previous sins are forgiven. Their life is given a new beginning.

This is supported by the Qur’an:

“Say to those who disbelieve that if they desist, what has previously occurred will be forgiven for them.”
— Qur’an 8:38

And the Prophet ﷺ said:

“Islam wipes out what came before it.”
— Sahih Muslim

There is an important distinction, however: this refers primarily to sins and wrongdoing before accepting Islam, not to legitimate rights or obligations owed to other people. If someone has wronged another person financially or otherwise, becoming Muslim does not mean they can simply disregard that person’s rights.

So, for a revert, Islam represents a genuine spiritual new beginning: what came before their Islam does not have to define their standing before Allah.

Sooo as to NOT get anymore confusion or haters. Let me rephrase my post and delete the last one. Let me say it like this: Would you ever think it is a good idea to HELP disbelievers become Muslim if they are fond of you and listen to you but are simply stubborn? Or is it best to just cut them off completely and not even give them a chance at the first sign of stubbornness.

I like asking tough real life scenarios that people may not think are common. All love no hate!
Allah says that with some people it doesn’t matter how hard you try, they will never be guided right, but I just want some personal ideas. 💡 Allah knows best.
