Gents, why is it so hard to speak to a woman? What's the secret?

Every conversation that I thought could turn into a long convo, gets cut short cuz the woman, who matched with me, deadens it with one line answers

Could someone please explain to me why it's so hard to keep a conversation going? How do I try to keep her engaged with the convo? What should I look for to focus on and get her interested in coming back to talk to me?
