Isn’t it thought provoking? Women themselves often say that cooking and cleaning aren't a woman's obligation using that as a reason not to cook or clean for their husbands. But if these things aren't an obligation then why do women willingly cook, clean, and take care of their parents at their parents' house? Does that mean they love their parents but not their husbands? Or does it mean their parents don't love them enough to hire a maid for them?
And when it comes to marriage, many women expect a husband who is financially stable and don't want a man who is struggling financially. That's understandable in itself but then how is a husband supposed to know that his wife genuinely loves him and isn't simply interested in the security, comfort, and benefits he provides? If cooking, cleaning, and other acts of service are dismissed as obligations and therefore not expected from her, while the husband's financial provision is still expected, what is left as a practical expression of her love? ***, companionship, and having his children?
I'm not saying every woman thinks this way. I'm questioning the double standard: if love is enough to willingly serve your parents without treating every household task as an obligation, why shouldn't that same willingness to care for and serve the people you love extend to your husband?
