Guys what are your thoughts on living with in laws 😭. I have a situation where I want to live near my parents and family and we have the opportunity to have our own private place. I’ll be near them but it means he has to find a job near us . But he has hopes and dreams for his job which is near his family and wants that I initially live with in laws but that could be a long time. On top of that I’m a hijabi and it will be me his mum and younger brother living with us as well. We don’t really want to do long distance and we like each other but what solution do we have 😭
Any thoughts???

Sometimes, we make life harder for ourselves by holding too tightly to cultural expectations, especially when it comes to marriage. We limit our choices to a particular tribe, background, or family connection, forgetting that a good spouse may come from a culture entirely different from ours.
Islam has made marriage easy, encouraging us to look beyond cultural differences and give greater importance to faith, character, and compatibility. Yet, sometimes, we allow cultural expectations to become barriers where Allah has given us room and ease.
Seeing stories of young people whose marriages have ended, including those who married within their own culture or family, reminds us that sharing the same background does not automatically guarantee a successful marriage. Every marriage has its own story, and we should never judge anyone for how theirs turned out.
Sometimes, the blessings we keep searching for far away may be right beside us, in places we have overlooked simply because they do not fit our expectations. We may spend so much time searching for what we think is best that we fail to recognise what could genuinely bring us peace. Perhaps one of our greatest struggles as human beings is that, in trying to control every detail of our lives, we sometimes become obstacles to our own happiness.
May Allah grant us the wisdom to recognise what is good for us, the courage to look beyond unnecessary cultural barriers, and the guidance to choose our spouses based on faith, character, and compatibility. Ameen.

I’m at that point in my marriage search. That if a woman wants to use me just for money or to get a Visa. I probably would consider it 😭

I’ve come to realize that whenever I wanted something and Allah chose something different for me I would later look back and regret my own judgment realizing that if Allah had left me to my own choices I would be far more miserable today than I was when I didn’t get what I wanted

I'm a 29-year-old man from Syria. I met a girl a month ago, and we met in person. We agreed to get married, bought rings, and announced our engagement to everyone. Then, two days after the engagement, she said we weren't going to continue together. She was even more eager than me to get married, but I don't know what happened to her. I was in an embarrassing situation in front of my family and friends, and I was also embarrassed in front of myself that she didn't accept me, even though I avoided many of the excuses and things she had done in the past. The feeling is like that of someone who fell from the sky to the earth in an instant. I know that everything happens according to allah wisdom, and that allah always chooses what is best, but for someone to leave without giving an explanation is very bad.

Why do so many people on their profiles do weird pouting faces, short videos moving their heads into various positions. A psychologist friend told me it’s a mental health thing?

It's ok to be ghosted, everyone has a right to choose. No one deserves an explanation.
