Alhamdulillah for new beginnings 🕋🤝 Whether you're new to Islam or seeking guidance, here we share experiences, offer resources, and foster a sense of belonging on your unique journey as a convert.
(c) Seeking help from a dead person or considering someone as a servant, a helper to the poor, or a helper of the greatest helper (Ghawsul-Azam) is also a major sin, which expels a person from Islam. Almighty Allah says, لَكُمْ رِزْقاً فَابْتَغُوْا عِنْدَ اللهِ الرِّزْقَ وَعْبُدُوْهُ وَاشْكُرُوْا لَهُ إِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُوْنَ- ‘You only worship idols instead of Allah and invent lies. Those whom you worship instead of Allah are not the owners of your sustenance. So seek your sustenance from Allah, worship Him, and be grateful to Him. To Him you will be returned.’ (Al-Ankabut: 17) Allah the Almighty also says, ‘And who is more astray than he who worships besides Allah that which will not be answered until the Day of Resurrection, while they are unaware of their prayers’ (Al-Ahqaf: 5).
If you want to ask for something, you should ask only from Allah. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “When you ask, ask of Allah and when you seek help, seek help from Allah.”[2]
There are two ways of asking for help. One is ‘du’a’ and the other is ‘istigacha’. In general, asking Allah for something in all circumstances is called ‘du’a’. And supplicating Allah in times of distress is called ‘istigacha’. Therefore, it is not permissible to use the word ‘istigacha’ for ordinary people and to use ‘Ghawthul-A’am’ with their names. It is preferable to do all this for Allah alone. He is the One who responds to the supplicant’s call. He is the One who saves the person in distress.[3]
O Messenger, announce that which has been revealed to you from your Lord, and if you do not, then you have not conveyed His message. And Allah will protect you from the people. Indeed, Allah does not guide the disbelieving people."
(Surah Al-Ma'idah - 5:67)
Tafseer-e-Kabeer, Vol. 12, Pg. 49 -
Under the verse 5:67,
It says:
Tenth: "This verse was revealed in the merit of Ali ibn Abi Talib (as). When this verse was revealed, Prophet Mohammad peace be upon him and his family) took the hand of Ali (alaihe salam)) and said, 'WHOEVER I AM HIS MASTER, ALI IS HIS MASTER. O Allah! Love those who love him. Be hostile to those who are hostile to him.

(b) Praying to the dead to ask for something or to protect them from evil is Shirk-e-Akbar, or major Shirk. If a believer does this, his faith will be destroyed. Because Allah alone is the One Who has the power to grant good or evil. He says, Say, "Do you worship besides Allah that which has no power to harm or benefit you, and Allah is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing." (Al-Ma'idah 76) The Quran proves that the Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) could not benefit or harm himself. How can anyone expect benefit from others? Allah the Almighty says, “Say, ‘I have no power over myself, whether good or evil, except as Allah wills.’” (Al-A’raf 188).
Allah the Almighty also says, “Say, ‘Then have you taken as protectors besides Him those who have no power over themselves, whether good or evil?’” (Ar-Ra’d 16). Elsewhere He says, “And if Allah touches you with harm, there is none to remove it except Him. And if He touches you with good, then He is over all things competent. And He is the All-Powerful over His servants.” (An’am: 17-18) Allah the Most High says, Have you considered if Allah wills to harm me, then who are those whom you call on besides Allah? Can you remove the evil? Or if He wills to bestow mercy upon me, can they withhold it? Say, "Sufficient for me is Allah. On Him do those who rely rely." (Surah Az-Zumar, 38). Elsewhere, He says, "And how many gods have they taken besides Him who create nothing, and they create and possess for themselves neither harm nor benefit, nor possess for themselves neither death nor life nor guidance?" They can neither do good nor harm themselves. And they are not the owners of life, death, and resurrection’ (Furqan 3). He also says, “Indeed, you cannot make the dead hear, nor the deaf hear, when they turn their backs” (An-Naml 27). Allah Ta'ala says, وَالَّذِيْنَ تَدْعُوْنَ مِنْ دُوْنِهِ مَا يَمْلِكُوْنَ مِنْ قِطْمِيْرٍ, إِنْ تَدْعُوْهُمْ لَ يَسْمَعُوْا دُعَاءَكُمْ وَلْ سَمِعُوْا مَا اسْتَجَابُوْا لَكُمْ وَيَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ يَكْفُرُوْنَ بِشِرْكِكُمْ وَلاَ يُنَبِّئُكَ مِثْلُ خَبِيْرٍ- ‘Those whom you call instead of Him are worthless dates. Not even entitled to flour. When you call upon them, they do not hear your call. And even if they hear, they do not respond to your call. On the Day of Resurrection, they will deny your association with Allah. Indeed, none can inform you like Allah. (Fatir 13-14)
Allah Almighty also says, “Do not set up with Allah another god, lest you become disgraced and helpless.” (Bani Isra’il: 22) He also said, “And whoever invokes along with Allah another god, for which he has no proof, then his reckoning is only with his Lord. Indeed, the disbelievers will not succeed.” (Al-Mu’minun 117) Allah Almighty also warned the Prophets about this and said, “(O Prophet!) Do not call upon any other god along with Allah, or you will be among those who are punished.” (Shu’ara: 213) In the mentioned verse, the Holy Prophet (PBUH) has been threatened with Hell. However, there is no possibility of the Prophets going to Hell. Therefore, it is understood from this verse that those who call upon the saints, the saints, or any of the people of the graves and worship them will lose their faith and will be among those who are in Hell. Because such an act is clear polytheism. And such polytheism makes a believer disbeliever.
Do you think Muslims from different backgrounds are united and respect themselves despite the differences or not ?🤔I feel sometimes that we are only muslims by name
As a newly converted muslim, I have a question about mental health. Would someone explain to me why we have mental health and why did Allah allow this disease to grow?
I was thinking about this while I was at working at the shelter.
The moment someone starts costing me my peace, I remove them from my life..
No explanations.
No second chances.
No overthinking.
My peace is non-negotiable.
It may sound selfish to some, but for me, it's self-love, self-respect, and protecting my peace of mind.
A Muslim man may marry a Muslim woman who is a convert (revert) just as he may marry any other Muslim woman, provided the normal conditions for a valid Islamic marriage are met.
A convert’s previous non-Muslim status does not make them less eligible for marriage in
Islam.
The Qur’an emphasizes piety and character over lineage, ethnicity, or family background.
A valid nikah (marriage contract) generally requires mutual consent, witnesses, and fulfillment of any other requirements recognized by the relevant Islamic school of thought.
If the woman converted from another faith, her past before Islam is generally not held against her; many Muslims cite the principle that embracing Islam wipes away previous sins.
Practical considerations can include:
Whether both spouses have compatible levels of religious practice and expectations.
Family and cultural differences.
Support for the convert, especially if they have little Muslim family support.
