Today, a stranger said something that shouldn't have weighed so heavily on my heart.
Perhaps on another day, I would have smiled, answered gently, and moved on.
But exhaustion has a way of turning pebbles into mountains.
It wasn't really about the words.
It was about everything I had carried into that moment without realizing how heavy it already was.
Then it struck me.
How often do we meet people in the middle of their hardest day and mistake their weariness for attitude?
How often do we judge a single moment, unaware of the silent battles that arrived long before we did?
Maybe that is the quiet irony of life.
We expect grace from hearts we know nothing about, while forgetting that our own hearts sometimes struggle to give what they desperately need themselves.
Perhaps that is why kindness matters so much.
Not because everyone is kind.
But because everyone is carrying something we cannot see.
And sometimes, the kindest thing we can do is refuse to believe that a single moment tells us the whole story.
