The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
"The marriage with the greatest blessing is the one with the least burden and expense."
Commenting on this Hadith, the renowned scholar Mufti Ahmad Yar Khan (رحمة الله عليه) explained:
The meaning is that the most blessed marriage is the one in which expenses are kept low for both families, the Mahr is reasonable, the dowry is not excessive, neither side falls into debt, no harsh conditions are imposed, and the marriage is conducted with trust in Allah. Such a marriage brings prosperity and happiness to the home. Unfortunately, because of unlawful customs and foolish traditions, many people turn marriage into a cause of hardship and destruction rather than a source of blessing. May Allah grant us the ability to act upon this blessed Hadith.

Ya Allah, as Muharram starts, just bring ease to our hearts and take away the worries we keep inside silently. Forgive our past mistakes, guide us in what’s coming, and accept our du’as. Put barakah in our lives, keep our parents healthy, and if it’s good for us, bless us with a halal spouse who is kind and righteous. Ameen 🤍
