Have you ever noticed...
How little evidence the mind needs before it decides it already knows someone?
One unanswered message...
and suddenly we've written an entire story.
One unusual tone...
and we've already decided what they meant.
It's fascinating.
The mind dislikes unfinished stories.
So it finishes them.
Even when the ending isn't true.
Lately, I have been wondering...
How many relationships have been wounded...
not by words that were spoken,
but by meanings that were imagined?
Perhaps wisdom isn't only found in speaking carefully.
Perhaps it's also found in refusing to become too certain about things we could not possibly know.
