Dr. Yasir Qadhi and other thinkers have convincingly proven that Jewish Platonic thought did creep into islamic theology. John of Damascus influenced both the Ashari and Athari camps in their debates on the names and attributes of God. These camps got these ideas from Ja'd ibn Dirham, who was someone who was at the same social level as John. John of Damascus influenced Ja'd, who would later influence the Mu'tazilah. The Mu'tazilah influenced all the schools of kalaam. (Ashari, Maturidi) John or Yohanna (Eastern Orthodox) is famous for writing a refutation against Islam after studying with the Muslims. His thoughts, especially on Christianity, came from Philo, a Jewish intellectual. This proves that Plato (who influenced Philo) had his influence on early islamic aqidah polemic thought. And as for Aristotle, we already know he was the one who influenced the islamic philosophers, ibn rushd (grandfather) and ibn Sina. This means even imam ar razi and ibn taymiyyah were both influenced, at some level, by Jewish and Christian philosophy. God knows best.

Book 10: The Book of Wisdoms (Al-Hikam al-‘Ata’iyyah) by Ibn Ata’illah al-Iskandari رحمه الله

A man should not confuse control with strength.

This book teaches surrender, sincerity, humility, reliance on Allah ﷻ, and freedom from ego, anxiety, and obsession with outcomes.

Before marriage, a man should learn that not everything will move according to his plan, mood, or desire.

He must know how to strive without arrogance, wait without bitterness, and accept without losing faith.

Because a peaceful home needs more than ambition.

It needs a man whose heart is not constantly fighting Allah’s ﷻ decree.

how to stop from doomscrolling? 😩 i used to read books for hours but now i can only focus for like 5 minutes 🙂

You can tell when somebody reads books, watches films, travels, and really lives. they speak with texture.

Read
The first command was not, "Become."
It was, "Read."
Perhaps because a heart that learns to read will never stop discovering.
Some of us read pages, yet never pause to read ourselves.
Some of us search the horizon, yet overlook the signs Allah has placed within our own hearts.
Every sunrise asks a question. Every passing season tells a story. Every trial leaves behind a lesson. Every blessing invites gratitude.
The world has never stopped pointing.
The question is: have we learned to see?
Maybe reading was never meant to end with words on a page.
Maybe it was always meant to teach us to recognize the signs of Allah wherever they appear, until every moment reminds us of the One who created it.
And perhaps the most beautiful reader is not the one who finishes the most pages, but the one whose heart is transformed by what it has read.

Book 9: The Book of Assistance (Risalat al-Mu‘awanah) by Imam Abdullah ibn Alawi al-Haddad رحمه الله

A man should not live randomly and then complain that his life has no barakah.

This book is about intention, discipline, prayer, remembrance, sincerity, time, brotherhood, character, and preparing the heart for Allah ﷻ.

Before marriage, a man should learn how to build his inner life, not just his career, image, or income.

Because a home does not only need provision.

It needs a man whose heart has direction, whose habits have discipline, and whose life has remembrance of Allah ﷻ.
