RANT!

Ive been on this app for about 20 ish months now on and off. Quite frankly, it has gone extremely downhill.

  1. You used to be able to soft filter for different qualities. You needed gold to make them hard filters, but you could tell the algorithm you prefer people with different qualities such as interests, height, practicing level, etc. I prefer taller women into active lifestyles so I miss this feature

  2. You could also hard filter some obvious non negotiables for free. E.g with a free account you could hard filter divorcees/those with children. You now need gold for that. Which is very dumb, there’s a reason it was a free filter originally

  3. The app randomly displays if they’re online and their location in place of their marriage status and height, so before you like their profile you have to favourite, check favourites tab and there it will show their information. Why? What’s the point in this? Is it a bug? If so, why can’t you just rollback to previous code?

  4. Gender based features: if a male likes the profile of a woman that has already liked his, he must send a message or “lose” the match. Quite frankly I think it is doing too much, make it a feature for both genders or don’t make it at all

  5. First message must be at least 30 characters: why? “Salaam, how are you? Is a perfectly fine opener. Some people hate small talk others require it

  6. Men on jamaa complaining about a lack of matches. Brothers get a grip stop thinking a lack of success in the real life marriage market will not carry over to this app. It reeks of entitlement and you look weak, focus on yourself and your purpose and the matches will come

That being said, the auto unmatch, 5 chat limit and especially “revisit passed profiles” button are great additions. Just nowhere near great enough to justify the 6 horrible blunders above

Curious to know what everyone else thinks, perhaps I can see the changes from a different perspective

Can I ask if the blurring situation is still working or has it changed? When we select unblur to those who I like when I click on my profile I don't appear blurred. Previously when I'd select this i would be blurred on this option - just a tad confused if I'm acc blurred when I select this or not lol, thanks

<CUSTOM_BOLD>#CommunitySafety #CyberSafety #MakeJamaaSafeAgain</CUSTOM_BOLD>
People often ask Jamaa for a Dark Mode.
A dark mode makes the interface easier on the eyes. A robust grievance framework makes the platform easier on the mind.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen several sisters in particular, and brothers too, raise concerns about unsolicited contact, harassment, and cyberbullying on Jamaa. Many have tagged @muzz @shaz @sawraw while some have also reached out through email. I sincerely hope these concerns receive due cognisance, but the response so far feels less reassuring than many had hoped.

No growing community is immune to such challenges. What distinguishes a platform is not whether incidents occur, but how it chooses to respond.

_Communities can be patient with time.
What striking is sheer silence, @muzz @shaz _
Can we move from reporting concerns to resolving them through a framework with defined timelines, a clear escalation pathway, and an local identifiable point of contact for grievance redressal?

Fellow members, if you’ve had a similar experience, I wd encourage you to first report it through [email protected] or the in-app reporting mechanism, and preserve your emails, tickets, screenshots, and related communication.

Rather than scattered posts, let’s document concerns systematically so they can be presented to Muzz as a constructive community representation.

We sincerely hope these concerns are addressed within the platform through meaningful engagement. If not, the documented concerns may have to be pursued through the other appropriate avenues available to the affected users.

@shehnaz9 if you’re comfortable, then maybe sisters who wish to contribute may coordinate with you.
Brothers, you’re welcome to reach out to me.

Features bring people to a platform.
Feeling heard, represented, and cared for when things go wrong is what makes them stay.

@muzz and @shaz need to decide if the social side is designed to be used for marriage or not. If it is, then we should be able to filter our feed based on location at the very least. And if it's not, then we should be able to delete the social side while keeping our marriage profile

Jamaa is becoming shîtty because there is no group moderation !!
People are posting selfies in foodies
And sharing their marriage proposals in fun and laughs
All things marriage is full of “hi” “hello” and a bunch of Rajus
Random is full drama and every day !! But I guess that’s that group for it!!
And of course there is racism and thought police in every group !!

@shaz add some admins for moderating groups or all users to create their own groups and moderate them Reddit-style

Hey @muzz and @shaz

Feature Request

This comes from a genuine issue I’ve been facing recently.

Over the past few days, several people I’ve never interacted with have been tagging me in their posts and comment threads. The only way I found to stop it was to block them, which honestly feels like an extreme solution.

Could we have a feature where users can approve or decline tag requests, especially from people they don’t know?

This would:
• Prevent unwanted tagging.
• Stop people from being dragged into conversations they have nothing to do with.
• Reduce unnecessary notifications and chaos.
• Give users more control over their own experience.

I have a feeling I’m not the only one who’s faced this. A lot of other users would have experienced something similar.

I think this small feature could make a big difference to the overall user experience.
