Just to put matters and events in their proper context and refute all baseless accusations leveled against Islam and the Muslim Ummah

David Hearst and Middle East Eye are consistently brilliant in their coverage and analysis of the Middle East.
@Cameraguy
Still too busy making mediocre posts on Jama or doomscrolling, instead of using your voice to combat Islamophobia online?

"It is necessary that the weakness of the powerless is transformed into a force capable of announcing justice." - Paulo Freire, The Pedagogy of the Oppressed
"I'm not into politics" isn't an option or a choice that one opts into and out of. This posture is more likely to reflect an individual, group or community's political will, sense of responsibility to others, and/or negligence to acknowledge the costs, benefits and consequences of political realities, as well as how power, status, wealth and capital define the parameters and conditions of living. However, choosing to do nothing, remaining passive, including disengagement or withdrawal, is a choice.
Oftentimes, the idea of being "apolitical" comes from a place of discomfort, fear, avoidance, overwhelm, misunderstanding, privilege and more. There is no such thing as neutrality. Everything in our lives is political - cost of living, whether you have access to clean water and food, whether you have a home, own a method of transportation and more - including many other dimensions we don't choose like where you are born (geographic location), your race, gender, status, mobility, whether or not you live with a disability, etc.
Whether you identify as political or not, your life is certainly impacted by politics. Worse, it can sometimes make you part of the problem, despite your intentions.
"Washing one's hands of the conflict between the powerful and the powerless means to side with the powerful, not to be neutral." - Paulo Freire, The Politics of Education
