“If what you wanted does not happen, then want what Allah allowed to happen.”
I often come across biographies that say, "They worshipped only occasionally and didn't always eat halal food," even though they were Muslim. What does that mean? Is it a typo or something else?
Islam does not teach us to starve.
Nor does it teach us to indulge.
It teaches us wasatiyyah — the middle path.
Enjoy the blessings that Allah has given you but never let those blessings become your master.
Eat, but do not overeat.
Earn wealth, but do not let wealth own your heart.
Seek success, but do not forget your akhirah.
Rest, but do not become lazy.
Love your family, but love Allah more.
Perhaps this is one of the greatest tests of our time.
Our predecessors were tested with scarcity.
We are tested with abundance.
Food is abundant.
Entertainment is abundant.
Choices are abundant.
Distractions are abundant.
And sometimes, what destroys a person is not hardship – but excess.
The Prophet ﷺ taught us moderation because the strongest believer is not the one who never desires but the one who knows when to stop.
May Allah grant us hearts that are grateful in abundance, patient in hardship and always content with what He has decreed.
Barakah is not found in having more.
Barakah is found in knowing when enough is enough.
Alhamdulillah, this is enough.
