Someone here called me a bi t ch today.

Surprise. I survived. What I didn’t survive was the sheer disappointment. If you’re going to insult me, at least be original. Make me pause for a second. Make me think, Okay… I’ll give you that one. Don’t hand me the linguistic equivalent of instant noodles.

It got me thinking… maybe I’m just weird. Actually, I know I’m weird. I’m very international with my words.

I love language. I love discovering that one ridiculously specific word that captures exactly what I’m trying to say. The feeling of finally remembering the perfect adjective after your brain has been buffering for twenty minutes? Elite. I want my words to paint pictures, not just beep like a censored TV channel.

So watching people communicate every possible emotion using the same two or three gaalis genuinely fascinates me. You’re angry? Gaali. You’re excited? Gaali. You’re shocked? Gaali. Your team won? Gaali. Your phone fell? Gaali. Your best friend walked into the room? Gaali. Your sibling? Gaali. Some of you even accidentally let one slip while talking to your parents. Still gaali.

At this point, I don’t think it’s emotional expression anymore. I think your tongue has developed muscle memory. And before someone says, Arre, ye gaali thodi hai… it’s an emotion. No. It’s still a gaali. You’re just making it do the work of seventeen different emotions because your vocabulary has unionised and the gaali forgot to.

The funny part? I just spent this entire post and replied to the comment that called me a bi t ch , expressing annoyance, disappointment, sarcasm, amusement and confusion… without using a single gaali. Turns out the rest of the language still works.

Maybe it’s because I grew up believing that your tongue isn’t something you let run on autopilot. It’s one of the things you’ll answer for. That thought has always stayed with me. So no, this isn’t me trying to become the CEO of Civilised Language. Swear if you want.

I’m just saying… human beings invented language. We wrote poetry with it. We wrote scripture with it. We wrote literature, philosophy, comedy and love letters with it. It would be a shame if your entire emotional range could be accurately translated by one word and the volume at which you say it.

Anyway, that’s my unnecessarily long TED Talk on why I’d rather spend thirty seconds searching for the exact adjective than let one swear word do all the heavy lifting.

Turns out the dictionary wasn’t just there for decoration.

Anybody here have good advice for dealing with waswas? Any support groups? I think I need a friend who can relate to what I’m going through.

As a man, getting rejected is the norm now days, and men will get rejected 100 times more than women.

Getting rejected is emotionally draining even if you are someone who is confident and self assure or someone with options.

The more we try and put ourselves out there, the more chance we'll get rejected.

I have thought about it and asked myself, is it really worth going through all these rejections just to find the one? Is it even possible to find the 'one'? Wouldn't it better if we avoided the rejection in the first place and lived a happy life without pursuing a relationship?

Marry the man who treats your dumb questions like they're NASA-level problems..🫣

What’s one thing you’d never forgive a partner for?

I genuinely can’t stand people who find something negative in every single topic. 😩 It must be exhausting to go through life always focusing on what’s wrong. Not everything has to be criticised or turned into a complaint. Sometimes it’s okay to just enjoy things, laugh, celebrate the good and let people be happy. Life already has enough negativity without adding more to it.
