Half past midnight. The once-bustling halls of the great house of healing echo with the muffling sounds of a heavy blanket of silence.

The only interruption is the occasional startling code alert, often followed by a joyous jingle announcing the arrival of a brand new baby. Poignant, how one alert signals an end to the cycle of life, and the other begins it anew.

And in the dark and dreary depths of it all, I, the lone resident on admissions and cross coverage, roam the halls like a prophylactic poltergeist, cracking jokes and making solemn as I float from room to tomb, ordering the chaos, the first and last line of defence against inevitable entropy.

Ok, fine, I'll admit it, I skip through the long empty halls like a very big, bearded overgrown little kid, just bc I can, and also, why the heck not? I'm alive, hamdoulellaah, still got a spring in my step, you goddamn right I'm gonna bluncy-trouncy like Tigger!

When it was time to fulfill my passion,
everything seemed like a dream,
I mean, it feels like this will never be completed.

Offended by men ( if we can call them that) who invade a sister's DM or even her comments section with inappropriate language no matter how veiled.
When a sister complains about it, some have the easy reply that "oooh but women do that too". While that may be true it is not the same.
There is way waaay more male environment pollution than female for one. For two muslim women are way waaaay more educationally trained to restrain themselves in the public arena than their male counterparts.
Granted, things are moving under the roaring times we live. But not that very much judging by the number of verbal agressions I, an uninteresting borring aunty have received, let alone what younger sisters have to put up with.
We report, of course we do.
But the risk is there and from time to time one is subject to dirt one cannot unsee for days. Disgusting and totally uncalled for!
An app is nothing but a public space and public spaces whether we like it or not are still masculine territory. Women are in the public arena yes. Muslim women too.
My call is to the gentlemen out there.
For our common sake, you need to regulate the brothers who have no manners, who cowardly behind a screen take advantage of what could be an extroadinary to for this community to connect, share and grow, to throw out their frustrations over strangers or over fellow sisters, could be yours, and if you are here could be your future spouse...
You can't be policing nor go after anonymous men who seem to have real issues, of course.
But you CAN participate in creating a clean, safe, decent environment where respect is the rule and sanction unnecessary, you can be more expressive, even radically negative about certain behaviours. Even in a locker room, certain language is degrading for the one pronouncing them in the first place. A muslim man is held to the highest standards. I for one, as a woman, even if mature, want to see that in my generation and the up and coming one.

You CAN among yourselves brothers regulate what you best know dies exist out there, the shadow side of masculinity. It starts in the public space.

I don't have brothers, I don't have a life partner, and my father passed away a few years ago. I know what a world without brothers, the real ones, the ones who understand what it means to be a true muslim, looks like by default. I also know that rahma and mawaddah doesn't start at marriage in a muslim world.
Rahma, Allah's grace is everywhere, and it comes in the first place in the clean, safe space where both muslims and muslimahs can be first and formost brothers and sisters to each other, for real, not in theory only.

To the man whom I reported this morning I hope you get some medical attention. May the Almighty forgive your behaviour. I have.

Have a good day everyone.
