Rule, Britannia ! ...
Britannia ruled the waves… until independence became the one idea empires couldn’t fully contain.

Here’s the uncomfortable truth though. Many South Asian upbringings don’t actually produce independence.
They produce obedience that looks like discipline, and conformity that gets praised as “good character.”

From early on, the conditioning is consistent..
Don’t question authority, don’t challenge elders, don’t stand out, don’t break harmony, don't be different, don't invite shame.

Approval becomes the currency, through history, family, society, peers and social media apps.
“log kya kahenge”.

So what gets called “responsibility” is often just well-trained compliance.
What gets called “respect” is often fear of disruption.
What gets called “maturity” is often silence.

Then later, there’s a contradiction, let's say this place for example.
You demand an independent partner, strong, decisive, self-directed, that can think freely, act bravely, stand up for what's right and challenge the collective narrative you grew up in, but somehow still operate within a framework that punishes those exact traits when they’re inconvenient.

So are you actually selecting independence ?
Or selecting someone who conforms so smoothly it feels like independence ?

Because real independence isn’t aesthetic.
It’s costly, it challenges the system, it doesn’t always seek approval, it could end up isolating.

Not just from empires, but from inherited thinking that still quietly chooses for you.

My momma sent me photos of some baby goats yesterday at her work, and it made my day so I thought I'd share it too.

Almost every man said he wanted a healthy wife. Surprisingly, only 1 woman said she wanted a healthy husband. 🤯

So now I’m curious…

If you had to choose just ONE, what would it be?

OR

💰 A financially successful partner with unhealthy lifestyle.

No “both.”
No loopholes.
