So, where do we stand on this? I ask myself.

Islam urges believers to worship Allah, develop noble character, and live with justice, mercy, and compassion. Among its most important teachings is the pursuit of knowledge.

Seeking knowledge is one of the most emphasized acts in Islam. When done with the sincere intention of pleasing Allah and benefiting oneself and others, it is an act of worship.

Significantly, the very first revelation to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ began with the command:

"Read!" (اقْرَأْ)

«"Read in the name of your Lord who created." (Qur'an 96:1)»

This highlights the central place of knowledge and learning in Islam.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ also said:

«"Seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim."»

This obligation applies to both men and women. Islam encourages Muslims to seek Religious knowledge and beneficial worldly knowledge throughout their lives, knowledge that strengthens their faith, develops their character, and enables them to contribute positively to society.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught that seeking knowledge is a lifelong journey. A believer should never stop learning, growing, and striving to understand what is beneficial.

So, are we doing it? Are we doing it the right way and for the right reasons? Are we using our minds the way Allah intended us to? Are we truly seeking knowledge, reflecting, and acting upon what we learn?
