Assalamulaikum everyone

Is it just me, or have many people stopped believing in marriage the way they once did?
Marriage today often feels less like a meaningful choice and more like a societal ritual or a contract between two families.

Growing up, I believed in love stories, la la land, and the idea of finding a person you genuinely wanted to build a life with. But as I grew older, I started questioning whether many people are marrying because they truly want to, or because it’s simply the next expected step in life.
Sometimes it feels like, if people had complete freedom from societal and family expectations, a significant number might choose differently or at least choose much later.

For many women, marriage can also mean leaving behind the familiarity of their own home and adapting to someone else’s family, expectations, and rules. If that’s the reality, shouldn’t choosing a life partner be one of the most thoughtful decisions we ever make? And if the right person isn’t there, isn’t staying single a healthier choice than settling?
Maybe that’s why so many women today are prioritizing independence, careers, and building a life they genuinely enjoy. Marriage no longer feels like the ultimate destination, it feels like one of many possible choices.
I’m not against marriage. I just think it should come from love, compatibility, and free choice; not fear, pressure, or tradition alone.

Sometimes Allah tests your faith by taking away the people you love or by allowing you to remain without a spouse, trusting that His wisdom is greater than our understanding.

Okay almost every profile from the male gender is talking about a real woman who is not after money hahaha someone enlighten me please? I was always of the view that you build wealth together but a man should have a good and stable job at the minimum. Can I please hear some stories of what women have asked for maybe I too should consider this hahah although I know Allah is the best of providers anyway 🥰

For me, good character, sincerity, and fear of Allah are qualities that last much longer than appearance or money. What's your view?
