Nikah is not a romance novel. It’s a contract with 3 witnesses: You, your spouse, and Allah.

Allah calls it Mithaqan Ghaleetha a firm, solemn covenant [An-Nisa 4:21].
Not let’s see how it goes. Not 50/50. A covenant.

Brothers: When you sign the Nikahnama, you’re signing before Allah to be her qawwam, her provider, her protector. Even on days you don’t feel like it.

Sisters: When you say Qubool, you’re entrusting your deen, dignity, and future to a man. Choose the one whose fear of Allah is greater than his love for you.

If both parties honor the contract with Allah first, then loving each other becomes easy.

And they are garments for you and you are garments for them" [Al-Baqarah 2:187]
Garments cover flaws, protect from cold, and beautify. Be that for each other.

May Allah make our marriages a means to Jannah, not a test of dunya. Ameen.
