I have a question for those of you who are in an international relationship or married to a foreign spouse.
How did you bring up the topic of signing a prenuptial agreement? Lately, I've been reading a lot about international marriages, and many people recommend having one, not because of a lack of trust, but to protect both partners and prevent legal issues in the future.
In my country, a prenuptial agreement can also help protect a citizen's legal rights to own property and other assets. Since foreign nationals are generally not allowed to own certain types of property here, a prenup can be important to ensure the citizen spouse's rights are protected under the law.
I'm worried that bringing up a prenup might make my partner think I don't trust them, even though that's not my intention at all. If you've had this conversation with your partner, how did you introduce the topic, and how did they respond?
