Assalamu Alaikum, dear friends. Today, I am going to share a story from my childhood with you. Alhamdulillah, I think you will be very happy to hear it.
One day, I asked my father, "Father, why did you marry my mother? My mother is dark-complexioned." My father replied, "My dear son, I did not marry your mother for her looks. I married her because she performs her prayers five times a day."
After that, I went to my mother and asked, "Mother, why did you marry my father?" She said, "I hadn’t seen your father before marriage. However, I heard that he had a beard, which is why I agreed to marry him."
My father married my mother because she prayed five times a day, and my mother followed our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)—because the Prophet had a beard. She thought, "If I don't marry someone who upholds the Sunnah of the Prophet, then who should I marry? There could be no better person in this world."
However, nowadays, we judge people based on who has money, who owns a house or a car, whether their age matches, or how handsome or beautiful they are. But people of the past did not judge based on these things. For instance, our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), other prophets, and revered figures like Fatima (R.A.) and Amina (R.A.) never evaluated anyone based on their wealth.
Today, people boast about their wealth and status. Rarely does anyone say they simply want a pious, righteous, and faithful person. Looking at people's mindset and status today truly hurts my heart. Everyone is running after wealth, attempting to marry money rather than a human being. Sadly, hardly anyone seems willing to walk on the path shown by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) anymore.
