Sufíes

A menudo pienso en cómo se entiende el Islam desde la perspectiva del sufismo, no solo como práctica externa, sino como una vida interior profunda, una espiritualidad arraigada en la presencia, la conciencia y la devoción interior.
La mayoría de las/os sufíes a lo largo de la historia siguieron fielmente la sharii'ah, pero también nos recuerdan algo que siento profundamente: el Islam no puede reducirse únicamente a una forma legal. Sin la reflexión interior, sin la implicación del corazón, falta un elemento esencial.
Rumi lo expresa con una claridad impactante con unas palabras similares a las siguientes:
"Obedece, ayuna y reza,
cumple devociones, limosnas y demás,
pero no siente ni la menor expansión del alma.
Realiza las devociones y actos ordenados por la ley, pero no obtiene ni un átomo de deleite de ellos".
Me hace pensar en la diferencia entre hacer automáticamente y estar presente en cada acto. Entre la obligación y el sentido. Entre la forma social y la luz intelectual del espíritu.

I often think about how, from the perspective of Sufism, Islam is understood: not only as outward practice, but as a deeper inner life, a spirituality rooted in presence, awareness, and inward devotion.
Most Sufis throughout history have faithfully followed the sharii'ah, yet they also remind us of something that speaks to me deeply: Islam cannot be reduced to legal form alone. Without inner reflection, without the heart’s engagement, something essential is missing.
Rumi expresses this with striking clarity:
“Obey, fast, and pray,
and perform devotions, charity, and more,
yet feel not the slightest expansion of the soul.
Carry out the acts commanded by the law,
but gain not even a drop of delight from them”.
It makes me think about the difference between doing and being present. Between obligation and meaning. Between form and spirit.
