✨I finally figured out why so many of us stay on this app for so long without making any real progress or building a genuine connection.

🌍 This post is available in 3 languages.

English🇪🇸 Español

Back when people used to talk to me about traditional arranged marriages, they would always say, "A photo doesn't tell the whole story." Honestly, I never really believed that. To me, the photo felt like everything.. it was black or white. Either I found someone attractive enough to start a conversation, or I didn't. There was no middle ground.

As time went by, I realized there's something fundamentally wrong with the way many of us use this app..and honestly, most dating and marriage apps. The entire experience revolves around matching. We keep swiping... skip, skip, skip... until we come across a face we find attractive, then we hit "Like." On the surface, that seems completely reasonable. Physical attraction matters, and everyone has the right to want it.

But here's what I've come to realize: a photo by itself is incredibly limited. It leaves out so much, especially when someone hasn't shared a voice note or written a thoughtful bio that reflects who they really are and what they're looking for in a partner.

Then I asked myself the opposite question: What exactly is attracting my mind to this beautiful woman in the photo when I know absolutely nothing about her besides her appearance? And on the other hand, what makes me instantly skip someone just because her photos didn't appeal to me, even though I know nothing about her personality?

That's when it hit me. When we're younger, many of us think a little more superficially. We assume the photo tells us enough, when in reality it could be hiding someone truly amazing who's worth getting to know.. or someone completely incompatible. The only way to find out is through real interaction.

The technology isn't the problem. These apps give us almost everything: photos, voice notes, even videos. The real issue is the mindset.

There's a difference between presenting yourself authentically and genuinely trying to discover who someone is beyond a quick visual impression and a few written lines.

Personally, I think more than once before sending someone a message. Partly because I value my own time, but also because I respect the feelings of the woman I'm reaching out to. If I'm not genuinely convinced, I simply don't message her in the first place.

I think I finally understand why so many of us have been on these apps for years with little to show for it. Maybe we've been relying too much on photos and bios instead of real interactions.

Perhaps we need to broaden our perspective a little. Yes, appearance can sometimes create an initial feeling of attraction..or the opposite..but that's still just an assumption. Real life is about actions, character, communication, and consistency. If those are good, I'll grow to like you. If they're not, I'll naturally walk away.

If we remain stuck at the stage of analyzing photos and building expectations from appearances alone, many of us may never even reach the stage where we truly discover another person. 😊🤝

Si no, me alejaré.

  1. Emotional Safety, Respect, and Kindness Matter
For long-term relationships, many women value kindness, empathy, reliability, emotional maturity, and a good sense of humor above superficial qualities. What matters most is not occasional grand gestures, but consistent, respectful behavior over time.
    Online
Show genuine interest in the conversation. Avoid sending generic, copy-and-paste messages. Personalized and thoughtful communication makes a much stronger impression.
    Offline
Listen more than you speak. Being attentive, respectful, and emotionally present demonstrates confidence and maturity.
    A common reality
Many women receive a large number of unwanted messages while dating, which can feel overwhelming. Therefore, approaching them with respect, patience, and sincerity is far more likely to leave a positive impression.

  1. Physical Attraction Matters, but It Isn't the Most Important Factor (Especially for Long-Term Relationships)
Physical appearance does matter—qualities such as height, fitness, and good grooming can influence first impressions. However, when considering long-term relationships, many women tend to place greater value on a man's confidence, social status, personality, ambition, and financial stability or future potential. In contrast, men often place a stronger emphasis on physical attractiveness.
Online: Your photos and bio create the first impression.
Offline: The way you walk, communicate, carry yourself, and interact with others has a significant impact.
A common pattern: Confidence combined with a good sense of humor is often highly attractive. Many women also appreciate feeling valued, desired, and emotionally appreciated in a relationship.

  1. Women Are Generally More Selective Than Men
Both online and offline, women tend to be more selective when choosing potential partners. Data from dating apps suggests that women swipe right on only about 5% of men's profiles, whereas men swipe right on 60% or more of women's profiles. Similarly, in real-life interactions, women are often more attracted to individuals who demonstrate high-value qualities such as confidence, emotional maturity, ambition, and strong social skills.
    Strategy:
Avoid blending into the crowd. Differentiate yourself by presenting the best version of who you are. Use high-quality, authentic photos, maintain excellent grooming, dress well, and develop confident body language. Standing out through self-improvement and authenticity is far more effective than trying to appeal to everyone.

Apparently, a lot of people these days prefer animals to humans...
which says something.
So let's find out.
Are you a cat person or a dog person, and why ?

<CUSTOM_BOLD>WHO AM I ?</CUSTOM_BOLD>

I spent years collecting names people gave me.
A title. A reputation. A reflection in someone else’s eyes. I mistook the mirror for the man standing before it.

But perhaps I am not the story I tell the world. I am the silence between those stories. The witness watching every version of myself rise and disappear.

The world asks; What have you achieved?
The soul asks; What have you become?

Maybe I am not here to conquer everything but to understand what was entrusted to me. Maybe to polish the heart to honor the people who cross my path and to leave behind a little less darkness than I found.
We spend our lives trying to become someone only to discover we were always returning to the one we were created to be.
I am not my victories. I am not my failures. I am the journey between them.
A restless soul carrying a borrowed breath, searching for the One who gave it.
And perhaps the greatest revelation is this:

I was never lost. I was simply learning who was looking.

I didn't manifest it.
I prayed Tahajjud. I made istighfar.
And Allah gave me what I had been chasing.
