DEAR SISTERS,

• Marriage does not mean you must change your father’s name to your husband’s name.

• Do not abandon your family identity simply because you have become someone’s wife.

• Allah ﷻ says:

ادْعُوهُمْ لِآبَائِهِمْ هُوَ أَقْسَطُ عِندَ اللَّهِ

“Call them by [the names of] their fathers; it is more just in the sight of Allah.”

📖 Qur’an 33:5

Dear sister, even if the majority of people follow a particular custom, remember that our ultimate priority is to please Allah ﷻ.

Follow the guidance of Islam, not merely the practices of society.

May Allah guide us to the truth and keep us firm upon it.

Āmīn. 🤲

🪦 ABOUT GRAVES: THINGS EVERY MUSLIM SHOULD KNOW

Dear Muslim brothers and sisters, Islam teaches us to respect the deceased, remember the Hereafter, and follow the guidance of the Prophet ﷺ concerning graves.

However, we must distinguish between what is clearly prohibited and what scholars discuss in more detail.

  1. ❌ Building structures over graves

The Prophet ﷺ prohibited plastering graves, sitting on them, and building over them.

📚 Sahih Muslim 970

  1. ❌ Making graves into places of worship

The Prophet ﷺ warned against taking graves as places of worship.

📚 Sahih al-Bukhari 435; Sahih Muslim 531

  1. ❌ Sitting on graves

The Prophet ﷺ prohibited sitting on graves.

📚 Sahih Muslim 971

  1. ❌ Praying towards graves or turning them into places of worship

The Prophet ﷺ warned against treating graves as places of worship. Muslims should not pray to the deceased or direct acts of worship towards them.

📚 Sahih Muslim 532

  1. ❌ Plastering or cementing graves for decoration

Elaborately cementing or decorating graves is contrary to the Prophetic guidance prohibiting plastering and building over them.

  1. ❌ Engraving names and dates on graves

The Prophet ﷺ prohibited plastering graves, sitting on them, and building over them, and a report in Sunan Abi Dawud 3226 also mentions writing on graves. Scholars discuss the details of grave markers used for identification, so this should not be confused with every simple, necessary identification marker.

  1. ❌ Placing candles on graves as a religious ritual

Lighting candles as part of rituals connected to graves has no established basis in the prescribed Prophetic practice. Avoid introducing religious rituals that the Prophet ﷺ did not teach.

  1. 📌 Placing flowers on graves

Do not assume that placing flowers on graves is an established Sunnah or a required act of respect. The incident involving fresh palm branches placed on two graves by the Prophet ﷺ does not establish a general instruction to decorate graves with flowers.

📚 Sahih al-Bukhari 216; Sahih Muslim 292

  1. 🚶 Walking on graves

Avoid walking over graves when another route is available. The Prophet ﷺ strongly warned against sitting on graves, and scholars discuss the ruling on walking over them in light of the relevant evidence and circumstances.

  1. Standing on graves

Do not stand on or climb onto graves without a legitimate need. Treat burial places with respect and avoid trampling or damaging them.

  1. Visiting graves

Visiting graves to remember death and the Hereafter is permissible and recommended. The Prophet ﷺ said:

«فَزُورُوا الْقُبُورَ فَإِنَّهَا تُذَكِّرُ الْمَوْتَ»

“Visit the graves, for they remind you of death.”

📚 Sahih Muslim 976

However, travelling specifically to visit a grave is a separate scholarly issue. Scholars differ on aspects of travelling for grave visitation, so it is better not to declare every such journey categorically forbidden without explaining the evidence and scholarly disagreement.

When visiting graves, ask Allah to forgive the deceased. Do not call upon the dead for help, seek blessings from their graves, or direct acts of worship to them.

📌 REMEMBER, DEAR MUSLIMS

Graves are places to remember death, make du‘ā for the deceased, and reflect on the Hereafter—not places for extravagance, superstition, or practices that contradict the Sunnah.

Let us learn the rulings of Islam from the Qur’an and authentic Sunnah, and avoid declaring something forbidden without sound evidence.

May Allah forgive our deceased, have mercy upon them, protect us from misguidance, and grant us a good ending.

Āmīn, yā Rabb al-‘Ālamīn. 🤲

❤️ DEAR MOTHERS IN ISLAM, PLEASE READ THIS WITH YOUR HEART.

Dear mother, your daughter is an amānah (a trust) from Allah ﷻ. Her upbringing is a responsibility, and the lessons you teach her today may influence the woman she becomes tomorrow.

Do not teach her only how to look beautiful before people; teach her how to become beautiful in character before Allah.

📌 Do not teach her only how to dance for people's entertainment; teach her the importance of Salah and how to stand before Allah with humility.

📌 Do not teach her only how to sing popular songs; teach her to recite the Qur’an, understand its message, and live by its guidance.

📌 Do not make makeup and physical beauty the centre of her upbringing; teach her modesty, self-respect, good manners, and the beauty of taqwā.

📌 Do not allow celebrities, actresses, and singers to become the only people she admires. Introduce her to the Mothers of the Believers, the female Companions, and righteous Muslim women whose lives teach faith, courage, knowledge, patience, and devotion to Allah.

📌 Do not teach her that her worth depends on her appearance, the number of followers she has, or how many people admire her. Teach her that her worth is not measured by people's approval.

📌 Do not teach her merely how to impress people; teach her how to fulfil her responsibilities to Allah, treat others with kindness, protect her dignity, and make wise decisions.

Dear mother, your daughter needs more than beautiful clothes and expensive gifts. She needs your guidance, your attention, your example, and your du‘ā.

Teach her Salah before the world distracts her from it. Help her develop a love for the Qur’an before social media becomes the loudest voice in her life. Teach her modesty without humiliating her, and correct her mistakes with wisdom, patience, and mercy.

Remember that children learn not only from what we tell them but also from what they see us practise.

Allah ﷻ says:

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا قُوا أَنْفُسَكُمْ وَأَهْلِيكُمْ نَارًا

“O you who believe, protect yourselves and your families from a Fire…”

📖 Qur’an 66:6

And Allah ﷻ says:

وَقِفُوهُمْ إِنَّهُمْ مَسْئُولُونَ

“And stop them; indeed, they are to be questioned.”

📖 Qur’an 37:24

Dear mothers, remember that you will be accountable for your responsibilities. But do not forget that children also grow into people who make their own choices. Your duty is to teach, guide, nurture, and set a good example—not to claim control over every decision they will ever make.

Raise daughters who know their Lord, love their religion, value their dignity, seek beneficial knowledge, and understand that this dunya is temporary.

May Allah bless our mothers, guide our daughters, protect our families, and make the next generation among those who establish Salah, love the Qur’an, uphold good character, and remain steadfast upon the truth.

May Allah make our daughters the coolness of our eyes in this world and a source of ongoing reward through the righteous lives they lead.

Āmīn, yā Rabb al-‘Ālamīn.

False eyelashes, Fixed nails, tattoos, heavy makeup, tight clothes, believe me.

All this are haram in Islam.

Putting on hijab won’t make it halal.

Don’t be unfortunate, your spoiling the name of Hijab.

DEAR SISTERS IN ISLAM, PLEASE TAKE THIS REMINDER SERIOUSLY.

I know some of you may not listen, and some may even feel offended, but please remember that sincere advice is given out of concern, not hatred.

Dear sister, do not knowingly engage in actions that displease Allah ﷻ just to gain people’s attention, admiration, or approval.

Be mindful of the pictures you post online. Avoid displaying your ‘awrah, wearing tight clothing that reveals your body’s shape, or presenting yourself in ways that fall under prohibited tabarruj.

Not every woman who wears makeup or adorns herself is automatically committing the same sin; what matters is whether the particular practice violates Islamic guidelines. Learn what Allah has commanded and take your modesty seriously.

And dear sister, before applying artificial eyelashes, nail extensions, or other beauty products, learn how they affect your purification and Salah.

If a product forms a barrier that prevents water from reaching an area that must be washed during wudū’, it must be removed before performing wudū’. Artificial nails and certain eyelash adhesives may create this problem. Ordinary nail polish can also form a barrier, while products that do not prevent water from reaching the required area are treated differently.

Allah ﷻ says:

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ حَقَّ تُقَاتِهِ

“O you who believe, fear Allah as He should be feared…”

📖 Qur’an 3:102

Dear sister, do not allow fashion, social media trends, or the desire to look attractive to distract you from your obligations to Allah.

Your appearance is not more important than your worship. Your followers are not more important than your relationship with your Creator. And people’s approval is not worth sacrificing obedience to Allah ﷻ.

Learn your religion before following trends. Protect your modesty, take your purification seriously, and never become too proud to accept sincere advice.

This reminder is for myself first and then for every sister who needs it. We all make mistakes, but the best response to a reminder is to reflect, seek knowledge, and return to Allah sincerely.

May Allah guide our sisters, forgive our shortcomings, protect our modesty, and grant us the ability to worship Him correctly according to the Qur’an and authentic Sunnah.

Āmīn.

DEAR SISTERS IN ISLAM, PLEASE READ THIS WITH AN OPEN HEART.

When you enter the masjid and see a sister wearing figure-hugging clothes, wearing heavy makeup, or adorning herself with artificial nails and eyelashes, please do not immediately think you are better than her simply because you wear a jilbāb or niqāb.

Do not look down on her.
Do not whisper about her.
Do not exchange judgmental looks with your friends.
And do not make her feel as though she does not belong in the house of Allah.

The masjid is not your personal property. It is a place of worship, remembrance, learning, and repentance.

People come to the masjid at different stages of their lives. Some have practised Islam for years. Some are struggling with their faith. Some are learning. Some are returning to Allah after making mistakes. Others may be taking their very first steps towards understanding Islam.

You do not know that sister's story.

Perhaps this is her first time entering a masjid.
Perhaps she has recently embraced Islam.
Perhaps she grew up in a family where nobody taught her the proper rulings of hijab.
Perhaps she knows what is required but is struggling to put it into practice.
Perhaps she is trying to change, one step at a time.

Or perhaps her circumstances are completely different from anything you could imagine.

You see her appearance, but you do not know her struggles, her intentions, or what is happening in her heart.

This does not mean that we should pretend every action is Islamically correct. Modesty matters, and sincere advice is part of our religion. But the way we advise people matters too.

Allah ﷻ says:

ادْعُ إِلَىٰ سَبِيلِ رَبِّكَ بِالْحِكْمَةِ وَالْمَوْعِظَةِ الْحَسَنَةِ

“Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction.”

📖 Qur’an 16:125

Dear sister, instead of staring at her or discussing her with your friends, consider approaching her with kindness.

Welcome her.
Smile at her.
Sit beside her.
Make her feel comfortable.
If the opportunity arises, build a sincere friendship with her.

And if you need to advise her, choose the right time, speak gently, and preserve her dignity. Private advice is often more appropriate when public correction would embarrass her.

Do not turn the masjid into a place where people feel that they must already be perfect before they can come and worship Allah.

People do not need to become perfect before seeking Allah. They need to keep turning back to Him.

And dear sister, remember this: wearing the correct hijab is an act of obedience, but it is not permission to become arrogant towards others. Your jilbāb or niqāb should remind you of your responsibility before Allah, not make you feel superior to His servants.

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“No one who has an atom's weight of arrogance in his heart will enter Paradise.”

📚 Sahih Muslim 91

When the Prophet ﷺ explained arrogance, he mentioned that it includes rejecting the truth and looking down on people.

So be careful. You may be doing well in one area of your religion while struggling in another. The sister you look down upon may sincerely repent and grow closer to Allah. You, too, must continually ask Allah to keep your heart sincere and humble.

Never use your obedience as a reason to humiliate someone who is still struggling.

Advise her, but do not degrade her.
Correct her, but do not crush her spirit.
Encourage her, but do not pretend that you know her standing before Allah.

We are not here to compete over who looks more religious. We are here to worship Allah, seek His mercy, and help one another upon righteousness.

May Allah purify our hearts from arrogance, hypocrisy, jealousy, and looking down on others. May He guide our sisters, strengthen those who are struggling, and make us people who combine correct knowledge with beautiful character.

May Allah make us humble in our obedience, sincere in our advice, and merciful towards His servants. Āmīn. 🤲

DO YOU WANT ALLAH TO FORGIVE YOUR SINS? 😔🤲🏽

Do you post pictures exposing your ‘awrah, selfies displaying makeup and adornment, music, or other things that displease Allah?

Have you ever stopped to think about the sins you may be sharing publicly?

How can you sincerely seek Allah’s forgiveness while refusing to repent and continuing to share what you know is wrong?

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:☝️

“All of my Ummah will be forgiven except those who sin openly.”

📚 Sahih al-Bukhari 6069📖

The hadith goes on to describe a person who commits a sin privately, then exposes it publicly despite Allah having concealed it.

Dear brother and sister,

this is a serious warning. Do not let social media turn your sins into something you proudly display or encourage others to imitate.

If you have posted something sinful:📌

  • -Repent sincerely to Allah.
  • -Delete or remove the posts that promote the sin, where you can.
  • -Resolve not to return to the sin.
  • -If others were encouraged by your post, take reasonable steps to correct that influence.

Remember: 📌

Allah’s mercy is vast, so never despair of His forgiveness. Sincere repentance is always the way back to Him while you are alive.

Allah says:☝️

“Do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins.”

📖 Surah Az-Zumar 39:53📖

Do not wait until death comes to regret what you shared with the world.

Repent today. Remove what you can. Seek Allah’s forgiveness. Protect your dignity and your Hereafter.

May Allah forgive our public and private sins, guide us to sincere repentance, and conceal our faults in this world and the Hereafter.

Āmīn. 🤲🏽
