Ode to a Nightingale by John Keats ❤️

THE ANATOMY

Static pulsed through the cochlea, Cochlea caught a blue fever,
Fever leaked through the ventricles, Ventricles metamorphosed into poison,
Poison dissolved into the bloodstream, Bloodstream hummed in a dead frequency,
Frequency folded into bone,

Bone after bone,
bone after bone,

fracture unfurling beneath the nerves, Nerves wearing black
dangling from silence,
Silence with its teeth buried
in the void architecture of skin,
Skin mapped in crooked nerves,
each ending where nothing begins...

Sometimes, peace is worth it

She had grown used to searching through
fields of straw.
Then, beneath the ordinary,
a needle caught the light.
Two mirrors angled towards the same
strange sky,
sharing the same quiet language.

And then there was his voice;
a low rumble beneath the ribs,
thunder softened by laughter.
And vowels that wandered
with a beguiling lilt.
Even its rough edges
were music to her ears.

He offered her two names;
one belonging to the present,
the other to some promised day.
But silence arrived before then.
His words grew sparse;
even the distance was given a name,
yet the hours kept widening.

Then came the one bridge
neither could cross for the other.
Her hands had not been free to choose,
but his boundary had no other side.

And so the needle disappeared
before the week could turn,
before the second name could find her tongue,
before the beginning could become anything more.

She was left with the strange ache
of almost recognising a home
in a place she had barely entered.
Yet sometimes,
her ears still long
for his familiar rhythm,
untouched by silence.

And I want to explore the world with you,

But in the end,
I became the assassin of my own heart 💔
