I was talking to my elder sister over the weekend about quite an important marriage topic. She has a few friends that divorced with very young children and she was telling me about how particular they are about men not having kids. It got me thinking about the general negative characterisation of men who say they want a divorcee with no children but when the shoe is on the other foot, the explanation given is usually that she is trying to build a life without “complications” or doesn’t want to get in the way.

So what about many brothers who harbour this sentiment? That they don’t want to deal with complications or don’t want to get in the way of co-parenting? Just curious to know peoples perspectives on this as there does seem to be a level of expectation of a man to “onboard” the blended family but in women are highly evasive of potentially reciprocating the energy and effort needed to give the same? Is there truth to the hypocrisy argument? Please feel free to comment

I’m looking for a kind, emotionally mature man who is serious about marriage and family. Because I’m a mother to a child with special needs, I would especially value someone who has experience working with children with special needs or who has a child with special needs himself.
