Children’s Health Defense on Instagram: "Baby monkeys given the U.S. childhood vaccine schedule showed abnormalities in a region of the brain responsible for social and emotional development. In a 2010 study published in Acta Neurobiologiae Experimentalis, researchers examined infant rhesus macaques receiving the complete U.S. childhood vaccine schedule used from 1994–1999. The study, led by Laura Hewitson and colleagues, used MRI and PET scans to examine structural and functional changes in the developing brain. The vaccine-exposed monkeys did not show the same maturational changes in amygdala volume seen in the unexposed controls. Researchers also found differences in opioid receptor binding and significantly greater total brain volume in the exposed animals at both measured time points. The authors wrote that their findings raised the possibility that multiple vaccine exposures during the previous 3–4 months may have had a significant impact on brain growth and development.
