Men, yes or no & why?

Asalamu alaikum

As a foreigner in Egypt, naturally we have to adapt to a new culture, new ways of thinking, different perceptions الخ

But, a concept that I’m trying to grasp and understand is this ‘social class’ thing, because many Egyptians have told me that even within Egyptian society, they don’t intermingle and especially marry into differing social classes

At best it’s ±1 ‘social level’, as in if the woman is 1 less social level than that’s acceptable, which I can somewhat understand

My main thing is how is ‘social level’ defined by the Egyptians? Is it by education level, is it by salary / income? Is it by the area in which you live in etc?

And another thing (More-so for my own nosiness lol) - But, what are the different income levels, from poor to ‘affluent’ I guess.

Because I’ve also been told that if someone where to make an income that in the west is considered borderline-poverty, such as 2-3k USD / mo, here is considered top 1%, is this actually accurate?

What are social expectations for men’s income here?
