Hello Dears,

What are the positive characteristics of a good friend and how can find a friend that care about you and keep secrets and respect to you and you respect him and as well as share your thoughts heartbroken feelings with him it’s not important whether the friend would be male or female.

I want to talk out loud about things we usually just whisper about.

So I was watching that video about what Black American Muslims deal with when it comes to racism, even inside mosques. I don't know why I was so surprised. 🙄

Where I'm from, we got colorism too. The funniest part? We're all Black — just different shades of Black — and we STILL find a way to be racist to each other. Some folks swear they're more Arab than you. Like bro, we're literally the same color in different lighting.💀

For a lot of us, being Muslim was never a struggle. For Black American Muslims, it was. First the struggle of reverting, then navigating life as Black AND Muslim in America post-9/11. Then you walk into a mosque and realize some immigrant families wouldn't want you marrying their kids, or you're only welcomed for the diversity pic. That double standard is real...

I also realized that some things we do as African Muslims, Arabs, or born-Muslims without even thinking can come off the wrong way and bring up a lot that our brothers and sisters have been dealing with for generations. Like offering unsolicited help with deen, as if they don't already know it...

So here's a few things we as non-Black Muslims need to keep it 100 about and cut out:

▪️Arab culture is not Islam. Speaking perfect Arabic or wearing an Arab thobe doesn't make you more Muslim.

▪️We're not automatically their teachers. Asking "you want a resource for that?" hits way better than correcting someone in public.

▪️We need to stop self-segregating. We say salam in the masjid but stay in our own corners. And let's be honest, a lot of families would still say no to a Black American spouse even if they're more practicing than us.

Black American Muslims didn't just join this deen. They held it down in America when nobody else did. We have a lot to learn from them about resilience.

So real talk: what else do you think we don't get that creates distance? And what's one behavior you wish we would leave behind?

I need to give you guys a story time

Met a man about 3 years ago and was going through a separation with his wife that she initiated. He courted me and we fell inlove and he was preparing to come home. When the wife found out about me she refused to proceed with the divorce and gave him ultimates and started to blame me for ruining her marriage. He kept on going and coming back and I kept on taking him back hoping that somehow he’d choose me. But each time he didn’t because of “circumstances” My family have now arranged a marriage with me with someone and he is a good guy. But my heart is still with him. Now that he has heard I’m getting married he tried to persuade my family and they’ve said no because of the trauma and heartbreaks I endured. What do I do? Please can you guys advise me
