Last weekend, we hosted our very first The Social Table event in Sydney - a relaxed social dinner for single Muslims to connect and meet in a comfortable, public, low-pressure setting.
The feedback was really positive, with many guests describing the night as chill, comfortable, and easy.
One of the beautiful things about The Social Table is that the host can help make introductions for you afterwards, so there’s no awkward ghosting, no putting people on the spot, and no uncomfortable conversations where anyone feels pressured to say no. The host takes that pressure off you. Anyone can politely decline. We don't wait for a mutual match - if someone is interested, we'll approach on your behalf. Everyone has the right to say no, but hey - if you say yes, you may just get married 🤭🤲🏽🫶🏽 (inn shaa Allah!)
Of course, like anything, there is always room for improvement, and we’re already taking that on board for future events. To stay up to date with upcoming event information, follow @eventsthesocialtable on Instagram.

✈️ Boeing vs Airbus: More Different Than Most People Think
To the average passenger, an aircraft is just an aircraft. But to pilots, the differences between Airbus and Boeing are huge.
The Boeing 737 and 767 are built around the philosophy that the pilot remains in direct control of the aircraft. The controls are designed to provide more physical feedback, allowing pilots to “feel” what the aircraft is doing. Many pilots describe Boeing aircraft as being more hands-on and traditional to fly.
Airbus aircraft, on the other hand, are highly computerized. Instead of conventional control yokes, most Airbus jets use side-stick controllers. The aircraft’s flight computers constantly monitor pilot inputs and prevent the aircraft from exceeding certain safety limits. This philosophy focuses on protecting the aircraft from dangerous maneuvers and reducing pilot workload.
The Boeing 737 is one of the most successful airliners ever built, known for its reliability, versatility, and ability to operate from a wide range of airports. The Boeing 767, a larger wide-body aircraft, is famous for long-haul passenger flights and cargo operations across the world.
Airbus aircraft are known for their advanced automation, modern cockpit design, and fuel efficiency. Many airlines appreciate the common cockpit philosophy across Airbus models, which simplifies pilot training.
Neither manufacturer is objectively better. Boeing offers a more traditional flying experience, while Airbus emphasizes automation and computer-assisted safety. Both have safely transported billions of passengers and continue to shape the future of aviation.
The real winner? The passenger, who benefits from decades of innovation, safety improvements, and engineering excellence from both manufacturers.

Anyone with suggestions on where to watch the Bulldogs game? (Other than the stadium) Just there for vibes, don’t really follow the NRL.
Yesterday I attended a workshop on the art of Kintsugi - the ancient Japanese art of repairing objects with gold.
Reflecting upon repairing healing and seeing that there is so much beauty in imperfection.
The workshop was run at Isra in Auburn by New Beginnings a service that helps those navigate separation and divorce and to heal with clarity.
I'm Australian born second generation Muslim originally my family came from North lebanon , we helped fund and construct the Imam Ali ibn Abou Talib mosque in Lakemba.
Over the years I've seen the mosque change and go from a hanafi moderate mosque to a criminal sanctuary and Salafist Wahhabi hangout to our dismay.
We will take it back inshallah soon, Australia is changing and the current management of the mosque is very embarrassing.
I'm not taking a shot at anyone, I just want to say this , when I was a child I once saw a niqabi and asked my grandfather what is this , he explained the woman must have been a working lady (prostitute) and has now been married and to save her husband embarrassment wears a niquab, so yeah I just want extremest to understand we the people who built Lakemba mosque wore pants and were upstanding members of society and that's what we think of them and their style of Islam 🤣
Allhumdollilah, event done.
Here is the feedback so far.
I look forward to organising another one later this year.
