Hey, muzz fam!

I've been looking around and talking to people for a while, and for context, I'm 21. Something that's genuinely caught me off guard is how many girls in the 21–25 age range seem to want to get married within the next two years.

I know that might sound completely normal to some of you, but coming from a pretty urbanised background where both my parents work and I'm working too, it's been a bit of a cultural shock.

Most of the women I've come across haven't seemed particularly focused on building a career of their own. Obviously, this is just my personal experience, not a statement about Muslim women in general, but it's made me curious about how people approach marriage and the future.

I've never dated a Muslim girl either, so perhaps I'm missing some cultural context here.

I'm genuinely curious about a few things:

  1. For women in their early to mid-20s, is marriage something you actively want soon, or is it more about family expectations, social norms, or simply finding the right person?

  2. When you think about a potential husband, do you want someone who's already financially settled and comes from a well-to-do family, or are you open to building a life together with someone who's still figuring things out and working towards his goals?

  3. How important is your partner's ambition? Would you want someone who shares your career aspirations, or do you see the traditional division of responsibilities differently?

  4. What about compatibility? How do you decide that someone is the right person to marry when you're still so young and have so much personal growth ahead of you?

  5. For the women here, what's your ideal dynamic? Two people building their careers and finances together, one person taking the lead financially, or something entirely different?

I'm not trying to attack anyone's culture, religious beliefs, or personal choices. People want different things out of life, and that's completely fair.

I grew up with a different set of expectations, and I'm trying to understand perspectives that I haven't really been exposed to before.

I'm interested in hearing from both men and women, especially those who've thought about this seriously.

Please don't turn this into a gender war 😭 I'm genuinely here to understand, not argue.

Peace out ✌️

Okay, genuine question for the guys here πŸ‘€.
If you're talking to a girl with marriage intentions and she's genuinely interested in you too, how long would you wait before bringing up the topic of marriage with your family? And girls, if a guy starts talking about marriage seriously within the first few days, would you find it a green flag or would you feel he's rushing things? πŸ˜πŸ˜‚.... Like, where do you draw the line between being serious about marriage and moving too fast? πŸ€”

The nikkah is simple, don't be fooled.

You only need:

  • -

    The Man

  • -

    The Women

  • -

    The Wali of the girl

  • -

    2 male witnesses

And its not compulsory that you start living together on the first day. The man can still keep hustling to afford a home. The girl can still keep living with her parents.
