Salam everyone! What book are you currently reading? I just started “Four Eids and a Funeral”, I love novels with Muslim characters 🤭
I’ve always been a big fan of Khaled Hosseini’s writing. There is something so raw and authentic about his words that hits you at all the right spots.
I just recently found out that in 2022, his son came out as transgender and had his father’s full support. Hosseini was in fact very proud of this transition. It leaves me at a point of conflict. Since I do not support such transitions due to religious reasons, I cannot admire Hosseini the same way that I used to.
I might sound extreme but it has changed my perception of him, just slightly. Is it possible to love and celebrate someone’s work while also not agreeing to their ideals. It might not be a big deal, but I see people online who stop following artists due to the same reasons.
