When I Was Your Moon
You had my nights,
my dreams, my quiet skies,
the light I saved for you alone,
the stars I kept behind my eyes,
and half the heaven in my soul.
But maybe it was far too much
too much love for hands unsure,
too much light for eyes that learned
to live beneath the dark, obscure.
And now you watch me from afar,
the way we gaze upon the moon
with longing for a distant light,
with memories that linger on.
Knowing that once, so long ago,
you held her close enough to touch…
but you never knew what to do
with a love that gave you so much.
Now your moon is veiled and far,
a fading light beyond your reach,
because once you had me close
and still, you could not see
the beauty you were given to keep.

{Sahih Muslim 2789}
Abu Huraira reported that Allah's Messenger (L) took hold of my hands and said:
Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, created the clay on Saturday and He created the mountains on Sunday and He created the trees on Monday and He created the things entailing labour on Tuesday and created light I on Wednesday and He caused the
animals to spread on Thursday and created Adam (peace be upon him)
after 'Asr on Friday; the last creation at the last hour of the hours of Friday,
i. e. between afternoon and night.

It hurts. It hurts a lot.
There are moments when you are tired of being strong. You make du'a, you try to be patient, you remind yourself that Allah knows best but deep down, you just want the pain to end.
And it is okay to admit that it hurts.
But when you ask Allah for flowers, don’t be surprised if He sends rain first.
Sometimes, the answer to your du'a does not come in the way you imagined. Sometimes Allah takes you through something painful before bringing you to something better.
Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:
“ How strange does it seem, that these tests which weigh a ton on our chest today will one day elevate us. Elevate us so high, that we will thank Allah. We will thank Him for testing us, for loving us and for giving us more than anyone could imagine. ”
[الفوائد ١١٩]
So hold on, even when it aches.
For the One who turned the flames into coolness for Ibrāhīm عليه السلام is the same One watching over your heart now, subhan'Allah!!
The rain feels heavy when you are waiting for flowers. But Allah knows what is taking root beneath it.
