DU'A FOR TODAY
اللَّهُمَّ يَا حَيُّ يَا قَيُّوْمُ، بِرَحْمَتِّكَ أَسْتَغيثُ، أَصْلِجُ إي شَأْنِي كَلُهُ، وَلَا تَكِلِّنِي إِلَى نَفْسِي طَرْفُةَ عَيْنٍ.
Translation:
O Allah, O Ever-Living, O Sustainer of all, by Your mercy I seek help. Rectify all my affairs and do not leave me to myself even for the blink of an eye.
Ya Hayyu, Ya Qayyum Have a beautiful and blessed day ahead.
May The Almighty be with us always.
Aameen Ya’Rabil’Alameen

The older we become, the more people in our lives pass away. We then realise that we came into this world with nothing, and we will leave with nothing.
What remains are the memories we shared with the people who touched our lives in meaningful ways.
So let us leave behind beneficial memories and good deeds.

Imām Ash Shāfiʿī رحمه الله said:

“After performing the obligatory prayers, there is nothing better than seeking knowledge.”

[المدخل للبيهقي ٤٧٥]

Through knowledge, a person learns who Allah is, what He loves, what He hates, and how to worship Him correctly.

Kaʿb رحمه الله said:

ما خرج رجل في طلب علم إلا ضمن الله السماوات والأرض رزقه
“Whenever a man goes out seeking knowledge, Allah guarantees his provision through the heavens and the earth.”

[جامع بيان العلم وفضله ١٠/٢٠٦]

Many people worry about who will provide for them if they dedicate time to seeking knowledge. But the people of knowledge know that the One who created the heavens and the earth is fully capable of providing for those who seek His religion. They strive for the Hereafter, and Allah takes care of their worldly affairs.

The real loss is not spending time learning.

The real loss is spending a lifetime chasing the dunya while remaining ignorant of the path to Allah.

Praise Allah With the Praises of the Entire Creation

اَلْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ الَّذِيْ كَفَانِيْ وَآوَانِيْ ، اَلْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ الَّذِيْ أَطْعَمَنِيْ وَسَقَانِيْ ، اَلْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ الَّذِيْ مَنَّ عَلَيَّ فَأَفْضَلَ ، اَللّٰهُمَّ إِنِّيْ أَسْأَلُكَ بِعِزَّتِكَ أَنْ تُنَجِّيَنِيْ مِنَ النَّارِ.

Al-ḥamdu lillāhi-lladhī kafānī wa āwānī, al-ḥamdu lillāhi-lladhī aṭʿamanī wa saqānī, al-ḥamdu lillāhi-lladhī manna ʿalayya fa-afḍal, Allāhumma innī as’aluka biʿizzatika an tunajjiyanī mina-n-nār.

All praise is for Allah who has sufficed me and given me refuge. All praise is for Allah who has fed me and given me drink. All praise is for Allah who has been gracious to me and showered favours on me. O Allah, I ask You by Your glory to save me from the Hell-Fire.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Whoever says [the above] when retiring to bed has praised Allah with all the praises of His entire creation.” (Ḥākim 2001)

عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم: " مَنْ قَالَ إِذَا أَوَى إِلَى فِرَاشِهِ: الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي كَفَانِي وَآوَانِي، الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَطْعِمْنِي وَسَقَانِي، الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي مَنَّ عَلَيَّ فَأَفْضَلَ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ بِعِزَّتِكَ أَنْ تُنَجِّيَنِي مِنَ النَّارِ، فَقَدْ حَمِدَ اللَّهَ بِجَمِيعِ مَحَامِدِ الْخَلْقِ كُلِّهِمْ. (المستدرك على الصحيحين للحاكم ٢٠٠١)

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Whoever says [the above] when retiring to bed has praised Allah with all the praises of His entire creation.” (Ḥākim 2001)

Today is my inshallah to be wife 4y anniversary of becoming Muslim. I can only imagine the journey she's had and empathise with the struggles she faced. This girl is so amazing, she's not a jilbabi, hijabi or nikabi and that's completely ok. This is her journey. This girl has more morals, modesty and self respect than any girl I've met. She acknowleges the gift of guidance every day and I see it and I'm so proud of her.

To the brothers who ask sisters whether they were virgins: please stop.

Islam teaches us to cover a person’s faults, not to dig for them. The Prophet said that all of his ummah will be forgiven except those who sin openly (Bukhari and Muslim). Allah says that He forgives all sins for those who turn to Him (Quran 39:53).

It is reported that a man came to Umar ibn al-Khattab about his daughter, who had sinned, repented and turned to the Quran, and was being proposed to. He asked if he should tell the suitor. Umar said: “Are you going to uncover a veil that Allah has placed over her? If it reaches me that you mentioned anything about her case, I will make an example of you. Marry her as you would marry a chaste Muslim woman.” In another report, a father wanted to marry off his daughter, and she feared she would disgrace him. Umar asked, “Has she not repented?” He said yes, and Umar said, “Then marry her off.” (Ibn Abd al-Barr, al-Istidhkar, Kitab al-Nikah, 24930 and 24931.)

A sister is not required to tell her suitor about her past, and asking is unwise: what will you do with the answer? Ask about her faith, her character and her plans, because a marriage is built on those. May Allah cover all of us.
