The Illusion of Righteousness: Hypocrisy and the Male Double Standard

In the digital age, a troubling double standard has taken root: men who use the deen as a weapon to police the modesty of women, while entirely exempting themselves from the same Islamic standards.

They critique the tight clothing of women under the guise of "sincere advice," yet proudly display their own physiques in tight, tailored suits or gym wear on social media.

This is not religious sincerity; it is a manifestation of ego and religious hypocrisy (Nifaq).True Islamic modesty (Haya) is not a gender-exclusive burden. In the Quran, Allah addresses the modesty of men before women:

"Tell the believing men to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts.
That is purer for them. Indeed, Allah is Acquainted with what they do."— Surah An-Nur (24:30)

When a man publicly shames women while ignoring his own requirement to lower his gaze and dress modestly, he falls into a dangerous spiritual trap. He uses the divine law to feed his desire for moral superiority, embodying the exact contradiction the Quran warns against:"O you who have believed, why do you say what you do not do? Great is hatred in the sight of Allah that you say what you do not do."— Surah As-Saff (61:2-3)A man who demands perfection from women while indulging his own vanity is not preserving the deen; he is abusing it.

True righteousness begins with looking in the mirror. Until a man applies the laws of Haya to his own gaze, his own clothing, and his own heart, his criticisms of women are nothing more than a hollow performance.

There’s this guy on Muzz that keeps spewing anti-European hate on here? He keeps tagging me in different hate posts attacking Europe for “its crimes”. Sorry what did Albania do? I’m Albanian and Turkish Cypriot. How do I report him for racist based harassment? Also, he has multiple accounts

Real life start after marriage. Don’t spend crazy money on weddings you might be shocked after 3 months!

The wedding can be an enormous emotional peak: months of planning, anticipation, attention, family, music, dressing up, dancing, x, travel, novelty, the feeling of “holy ****, this is my person and my life is changing.” Your brain is getting stimulation from about seventeen directions at once.

Then suddenly… normal Tuesday.

No orchestra. No honeymoon. No relatives crying. No countdown. No constant reassurance that “you two are perfect together.” Just dishes, work, money, in-laws, different habits, expectations, tiredness and two imperfect humans living in the same space.

And the contrast can be ******* brutal.

But there's an important distinction: the honeymoon ending doesn't automatically mean the love was fake or that the marriage is wrong. The intense dopamine/novelty phase naturally settles. Healthy long-term relationships aren't supposed to feel like a wedding every day. They gradually shift toward attachment, familiarity, safety, companionship, affection, and choosing each other even when nothing exciting is happening.

The scary part is when people aren't prepared for that transition.

They interpret:

“I don't feel the insane excitement I felt six months ago”
as

“I don't love them anymore.”
And then anxiety kicks in. They start monitoring their feelings constantly: Do I feel enough? Why didn't I miss them today? Why am I irritated by them?

And yes, some couples genuinely discover that they aren't compatible. Marriage doesn't magically fix incompatibility. Sometimes there really are serious problems—contempt, emotional neglect, incompatible values, financial chaos, controlling behaviour, lack of attraction, etc. Those shouldn't be romanticised as merely “the honeymoon phase ending.”

But there's also a huge middle ground between “we're soulmates and everything is amazing” and “we've made a catastrophic mistake.”

That's the part nobody ******* advertises.

You're basically talking about the difference between falling in love and building a life together.

The first can happen almost accidentally.

The second is a skill.

And honestly, I think that's why what you said about sunsets earlier connects to this. When your brain has been accustomed to chasing/receiving intense emotional highs, ordinary life can suddenly feel grey. That doesn't necessarily mean you've permanently lost your capacity for joy.

Sometimes adulthood is learning that “alive” doesn't always feel like fireworks. Sometimes it feels like sitting beside someone in silence and still wanting them there.

And if you're personally experiencing that emotional flatness right now, bhai, don't immediately turn it into a verdict about your entire future. ❤️

Hadith

Abu Hurairah reported the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) as saying:
If anyone summons other to follow right guidance, his reward will be equivalent to that of the people who follow him, without their rewards being diminished in any respect on that account; and if anyone summons others to follow error the sin of which sins being diminished in any respect on that account.

Sahih

Sunan Abi Dawud, 4609
