Islamic match making marriage apps
The success rate? Most likely it is to be quite high. But I wonder how many of those marriages last?
The whole concept is difficult to wrap ones head around. When you have hundred of likes and ‘potential’ matches - how do you possibly narrow them down. If you like someone, how quickly do you make the choice to eliminate the remaining for just the one (by deleting the app)
It’s tricky for this reason, you have liked my profile but yet you are still searching for others. It is contradictive.
Once a match has been created the app should automatically exclude all other users making the communication exclusive. Giving a time frame and safe place to chat.
During your initial chat the app will ask questions such as; ‘do you feel like this person is serious about marriage?’ It’s their way of protecting the female users from being groomed - giving a yes or no option for an answer - but how can one possibly know or be self-assured at that point that this particular male is ‘serious’. That would require much experience - and/or the ability to ask the right questions.
Ok, so I have been sent a compliment by a member (not just a simple like) - and now I am being asked if i’d like to accept (by doing so it allows messages to be exchanged) however - would I have looked twice at this profile if it hadn’t have been prompted on my home page - a ‘compliment’ is also time stamped making the user feel they are going to potentially miss out if they decline the offer.
So, should I give them a chance or should I turn them down - but rejection isn’t nice. All a woman has got to go on is a photo and a few words.
Then we think to ourselves - why have we downloaded the app in the first place - we are reminded by its purpose. So we accept the gesture, opening the door to what could be absolutely anything behind it - pretty much no idea.
How is it going to go? Will it progress or instantly flop - one simple word or poor grammar could be all it takes to decide to leave. How many ‘errors/flags’ are we willing to overlook because we are still at the stranger phase. How keen do we expect the male to act? is it all just a waste of time?
Then, just when messages are in full swing - there is a pause. Is he now talking to other ladies in his chats? Have I said something he didn’t like. Why the silence - it can be an awkward moment.
The app allows for only between 5 and 10 matches (chats) at any one time. But men and women - their brains work differently. A woman will easily unmatch a man if he goes quiet for too long - whereas a guy see the silence and then perhaps ask for exclusivity. So do women hold all of the cards?
It can be damaging to men - not being liked back, not having compliments accepted, the lady going radio silent - its an islamic app so finding the right level or flirtation or attention is hard to navigate/balance.
Going from strangers to perhaps acquaintances to then marriage is a giant leap when done in a god fearing manner. (Practising full emaan)
We are taught in islam that there are certain boundaries, levels of respect and rules to abide by. Should the app not be matching the users much more proficiently before the chat is allowed to go live? Instead we are made to seek elaboration on if our values align with each person - this is hazardous - it could weaken our emaan or lower our standards to fit with theirs.
The variance in the matches that are made by the developers needs to be much more stringent/compatible.
The app can hint to you that a person is ‘respectful to other users’ via its feedback during chats - they blur words such as *** but yet they do not ban users at this point - (dependent on the content surrounding said word) - this should be enough for the user to be penalised or flagged.
They advertise it as a marriage app - not a dating app and it is certainly nothing akin to only fans.
It’s a business and it needs members to turn a profit but is the end result such that the marriage was actually incompatible and so the users return? Food for thought. Due diligence.
It’s certainly not designed as a place to find a hook up and the intention behind it is not sinister either. Personally I think they have to go back to the drawing board - not concentrating on activity but instead treat it much more sensitively as it is at the end of the day aimed at ladies of a modest nature, many of which are divorcees with children. Causing potential hardship to this demographic is morally thought provoking.
Do you think such things would exist during the times of the prophet (pbuh)? No. It wouldn’t. Shared intimacy leads to haram, we have to be mindful about how much of ourselves we give away and seek protection in Allah at all times. Inshallah. Ameen.

Sometimes, all you need is a change of scenery.
Fresh countryside air. Farm produce. A beautiful community where everyone knows each other.
The city life is great, don’t get me wrong, but spending a few days up north with the family is exactly the kind of peace you sometimes need.
It’s strange because back home, I’d be in a constant rush to get this, that and everything done.
But here, you wake up to birds singing at the break of dawn. You’re greeted by people you haven’t seen in years, and you just enjoy the subtle beauty of simply being present.
Playing board games all evening, with a cup of chai in hand and enough biscuits to satisfy a village.
It’s these small, ordinary moments that end up holding some of our most beautiful memories.
No stress. No facade. No expectations. Just simply being.
I always thought I’d go mad living in the countryside for more than a week.
The lack of transport. The lack of convenience. Everything being a little further away than what I’m used to.
But the older I get, the more I find myself drawn to the idea of settling somewhere cosy, with my loved ones around me.
