From barely finishing 5 reps of squats, followed by roughly 1week of soreness, to completing 100reps of squats (20reps *5sets) in one session yesterday 🎉🎊. Today, I was expecting to feel soreness but I only feel heaviness—I guess I’m getting there😁.
For me, the ability to stack up progress is the most fulfilling value I obtained. As someone who hates being a beginner, and to see myself struggling through the process, it’s shifted my perspective around sitting through the discomfort of new beginnings and will definitely fuel my other prospective ventures. Hope to Keep it up🙏🏽 🤭

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ
You sit waiting for the Doctor to come in and give you an update… They look at you and say right so this is where it’s at, let’s monitor and see how your condition worsens. They are understaffed and see you once in the day and then go home after their shift finishes. Night shift begins and staff are limited further, the condition rapidly worsens. The next day a new doctor comes in and consults with the patient, “Good morning my lovely, awh look at you, right this is where it’s at, we’re going to monitor it and observe how it progresses…”
The cycle continues, they go home, the next day it’s a different doctor, and then a different doctor, then the first doctor comes back on shift days later and says, “oh my god, it has worsened hasn’t it, poor you, you must be in so much pain don’t worry we’re doing everything we can!”
Everyday a new doctor looks at the patient, and says right this is where i’ve seen you at, so this is what we’ll assume is day 0 and lets it get worse, “we will monitor you to see how it progresses”. Each day the situation worsens, and the patient becomes more critical and the cycle continues.
Then there’s me diagnosing the patient, my beautiful mother. Telling the doctors what the issues are and that they’re wrong. They respond by patronising me, and telling me that it’s understandable to be concerned, “we’re only keeping her here out of sympathy, we will discharge her tomorrow”, that I have nothing to worry about, and that whatever is happening is completely normal, when in fact, yes, it is normal when the doctors are being negligent. Left feeling so helpless that, as I warn them of the preventive measures that should be carried out, what could have been prevented is happing in real time. 11 days later and my mother is in critical condition.
I spent 2 out of 8 hours today with my beloved mother. 6 of those hours that could have been spent keeping her company, looking after her, reciting Quran for her or making sure she was as comfortable as can be, instead kept me on my feet running from one side of the hospital to the other, back and forth between PALS (Patient advice liaison services) and the different specialists who had to all be on different sides of the hospital.
AlhumduLillah I’m educated and well versed in the matters at hand but there are so many patients, mothers, fathers, grand parents or loved ones, suffering without knowing what to do. It’s extremely important that even if you’re completely healthy, you need to understand and know how the system works. If you or someone you know goes in unprepared with one issue you’ll get trapped in the system and leave with 100 new problems.
Had they been doing their job, and acted when I told them, my mother’s condition may not have become so critical in which she is currently unable to eat and is without 80% of her vision. Had I not known what to do, only ﷲ knows what she would be going through or if she would have still been here.
It’s so important, to understand your rights and know the laws. Knowing things like, Emily’s law and Martha’s Law, or understanding malpractice and clinical negligence is so important and can save so many problems that could have been avoided, may ﷲ protect everyone from ever having to go through such tests but it’s inevitable. We’re human after all.
In seeing my mother unable to eat, lying to her when she asks if I’ve eaten, and suddenly remembering that i was supposed to eat when Infact the last last time I ate something was two days ago! That’s probably why i have a migraine. Back to the hospital in the morning, please pray that i wake up and get there on time for when the doctors get there inshaAllah. I kindly ask that you keep my mother in your duas. I really don’t know how much longer i can see her like this.
Ya ﷲ cure my mother, restore her back to full health, make her stronger than before and may this pain and suffering be a means of expiating any sins she may have. May ﷲ protect all of the mothers out there, give them shafaa and remove any evil eye from those suffering. For those who are not in this situation may they never have to feel a pain like this. Ya ﷲ guide me and guide us all.
