It is narrated from Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him):

“Seek knowledge, for learning it is a good deed, studying it is an act of glorifying Allah, researching it is a form of striving in the way of Allah, and teaching it to those who do not know it is an act of charity.

Knowledge is a comfort in times of estrangement, a companion in solitude, a weapon against enemies, and an adornment among friends.

Through knowledge, Allah elevates certain people, making them leaders in goodness whom others follow. Their deeds are observed, and their examples are emulated. The angels desire their companionship and brush them with their wings during their prayers.”

"تَعَلَّمُوا اَلْعِلْمَ فَإِنَّ تَعَلُّمَهُ حَسَنَةٌ وَ مُدَارَسَتَهُ تَسْبِيحٌ وَ اَلْبَحْثَ عَنْهُ جِهَادٌ وَ تَعْلِيمَهُ لِمَنْ لاَ يَعْلَمُهُ صَدَقَةٌ وَ هُوَ أَنِيسٌ فِي اَلْوَحْشَةِ وَ صَاحِبٌ فِي اَلْوَحْدَةِ وَ سِلاَحٌ عَلَى اَلْأَعْدَاءِ وَ زَيْنُ اَلْأَخِلاَّءِ يَرْفَعُ اَللَّهُ بِهِ أَقْوَاماً يَجْعَلُهُمْ فِي اَلْخَيْرِ أَئِمَّةً يُقْتَدَى بِهِمْ تُرْمَقُ أَعْمَالُهُمْ وَ تُقْتَبَسُ آثَارُهُمْ تَرْغَبُ اَلْمَلاَئِكَةُ فِي خُلَّتِهِمْ يَمْسَحُونَهُمْ بِأَجْنِحَتِهِمْ فِي صَلاَتِهِمْ"
