Hi
Everyone
@Rubabelle7
I think one of the biggest psychological challenges of this app is what Barry Schwartz calls “The Paradox of Choice”. I feel we have a lot of options here and that makes it difficult for us to make a decision. While exploring our connection with a person, we start wondering.. what if someone even more compatible is just one swipe away? (The grass is greener on the other side effect). Especially when you receive compliments from multiple people, it gets convoluted. You feel like engaging in a conversation with them. If the first conversation with them ends up being better than the first conversation with the other person, you are doomed. And the cycle repeats.
Now here’s my dilemma. I am back with another one. Sorry 😭
Okay, so I started speaking to someone a couple days back. On texts, it feels effortless. He’s witty, attentive, thoughtful and I have a feeling this could work for both of us. We have things in common too. He loves reading (I randomly sent him a short story during our first conversation and he actually paused our conversation to go read it, which I found oddly endearing). The only issue here is that he reads Urdu books only while I am into both English and Urdu literature. He’s also from the same caste as mine which my family would absolutely love.
But then we had a phone call… and it barely lasted twenty minutes. I thought we’d have a lot to talk about. I enjoy meaningful conversations and I felt he was laughing too much unnecessarily. It kinda put me off.
I am a talker and I can usually stay on calls with friends for 4–5 hours but that energy was missing. Now I’m wondering.. am I overthinking one awkward call? Was it just first call anxiety? or is this the kind of thing you shouldn’t ignore?
More importantly, how do you know when to stop looking? If we keep believing there’s a more compatible person out there, won’t we keep searching forever? I’d really appreciate if you could share your thoughts and experiences with me.

Sometimes a woman doesn’t need solutions. She just needs a man who notices she’s hurting without having to be told.
