Just a reflective thought cuz I had a serious talk about relationships with a close cousin yesterday.
She couldn’t fathom why I’m single. She gave me all the compliments any cousin who loves you and has known you since young would. Then she said maybe I’m not trying anymore or maybe I’ve given up.
But explaining it to her kinda put things into a clearer perspective for myself too.
I am comfortable with myself. I enjoy the freedom of being single and alhamdulillah I make do with what I have and have been given in life. So for me to choose a man as a life partner… he would have to show me that life with him is better than the life I already have as a single woman.
And honestly, I hope it’s the same for the guy too. That if he chooses me, it’s because he truly believes life with me would be better than without.
It’s not arrogance or some profound realisation that made me think this way. I’m obviously still hoping to find a partner someday. But I think at this age, I’ve fully come to understand how important that is.
Maybe it’s an age thing 😅 the older you get, the more you kinda realise it takes so much more than just attraction, compatibility and love to actually build a life with someone.
Sorry for the long post. Just felt like airing this thought out to strangers makes sense atm. 😆
