THE PSYCHOLOGICAL MECHANISM BEGIND MUZZ SCAMS

Introduction

People are being scammed on Muzz and Jamaa

I've seen posts from men on Jamaa who said they were tricked by fake female profiles, and lost thousands

In this post I will describe Investment scams, Romance scams and how both of these can be combined into a sophisticated scam that is more likely to result in the victim losing their money.

This is how each type of scam works: ⏬️⏬️⏬️⏬️⏬️

INVESTMENT SCAMS

Sometimes scammers will simply post a listing for a fake job/investment scheme and wait for someone to fall for the bait (example in the comments). These are very obvious and most people normally avoid posts like this. However, a small number of people (out of many thousands) will unfortunately fall for it and contact the scammer.

ROMANCE SCAMS

Scammers create fake profiles using A.I. photos and also stolen photos of innocent people. On Jamaa, all they have to do is upload a picture of a (sometimes semi-nude) woman as their pfp and post stuff like Hello looking for marriage 🫶 ❤️ 💕 . Their posts can easily receive thousands of views from men, some of whom will show genuine interest by liking and commenting under the post, not realising the profile is a fraud. The scammer will either message these men directly or wait for the men to DM them.

Similarly, on the Muzz marriage side the scammers create fake profiles and send likes and complements to thousands of profiles and will maintain a genuine interst in them once they match.

The profile may talk with the unsuspecting victim for a couple of weeks to several months in order to establish a romantic relationship.

The romance , and the amount of effort and time, the fake profile spends talking with the victim makes them feel like they are talking to a genuine person who has a genuine romantic interest in them. Scammers in Cambodia 🇰🇭 have a term called Pig-butchering 🐖🔪to describe this method. They fatten the victim up like a Pig by talking to them for multiple weeks or months and even sending them small gifts to prove their love ❤️ and convince the victim the relationship is real. And once the victim becomes fully romantically/emotionally invested in the relationship the scammers butcher the victim by asking them to transfer a huge amount of money by fabricating a story such as needing money for life-saving emergency surgery or needing money to pay the rent.

HOW ROMANCE SCAMS AND INVESTMENT/JOB SCAMS ARE COMBINED ON MUZZ

On Muzz romance scams and investment scams can be combined into a much more sophisticated type of scam.

This scam begins the same way as a typical romance scam in which scammers communicate with the victim for several days, weeks or months to build a romantic relationship which feels 100% real to the victim.

However, the scammer will not directly ask the victim to send money to pay for an emergency, such as a heart tumour surgery, like in a typical romance scam. Instead, they will introduce the victim to a fake crypto job/investment opportunity.

Most people will see right through the scam, or feel suspicious, and block the fake account.

But, about one in every thousand people will feel curious and think the scam is a genuine job/investment opportunity and will keep chatting and following the scammer's instructions.

This is the entire goal of scamming; to find at least one person who is curious and doesn't realise they are being targeted in a scam. Scammers will message thousands of people and sooner or later they will find one victim who will end-up losing thousands of pounds, euros or dollars 💸 .

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE VICTIM GETS INVOLVED IN THE FAKE INVESTMENT/JOB??? 🐁 🪤

Nowadays, internet scams involve converting traditional money (dollars/pounds/euros) into cryptocurrency (Bitcoin/USDT/ETHEREUM).

Crypto scams work like this:
STAGE 1. the scammers tell the victim that their business or investment opportunity only deals with cryptocurrency. So first of all, the victim is asked to convert some of their money into cryptocurrency like Bitcoin, Ethereum or USDT.

STAGE 2. They ask the victim to invest a small amount of crypto into their scheme (like 50 or 100 USDT) on their fake investment/job website. The scammers provide a crypto account into which the victim can transfer their crypto to make investments. In reality this is the scammer's own crypto account, not a real investment account on a real website.

Scammers can now create dozens or hundreds of professional-looking fake websites using A.I. Sometimes these websites are fake versions of real websites and you can find out by comparing the URL of the fake website with the URL of the real website. For example, the fake website may have a slight misspelling of the real company's name or it may have an additional word.

STAGE 3. They allow the victim to "win" small amounts of money.

The scammers ask the victim to keep investing small amounts of money and 90% of the time, the victim will make a small return on their investment. For example, when the victim invests 50 USDT, they might get a return of 70 USDT on their investment.

However, this is just a trick the scammers use in the beginning of their scam. They allow the victim to make some money at the start of the scam. They do this to build victim's confidence and believe in their fake scheme. As the victim starts making small profits, they get used to trusting anything the scammers tell them without suspicion.

In reality, there is no investment taking place. The scammers are manually crediting the victim's crypto account, from their own crypto accounts, through the fake website/platform which the victim believes is an automatic return on their investment.

STAGE 4. After 1 or 2 weeks, the victim begins to fully trust the scam. They believe everything the scammers tell them and follow their instructions like a pet dog.

This is when the scammers ask the victim to invest much larger amounts of crypto to the crypto website. They ask him or her to invest more money than their entire total profits. For example, they may have made 1000 USDT profit overall via small investments at the beginning of the scam. But this time the victim is suddenly asked to invest 2000 USDT (twice their total profit 📈. )

STAGE 5 Everything flips upside down.

When the victim invests large sums of money, they stop making a profit. They may invest 2000 USDT but only receive 1000USDT back. Which means they've lost all of their previous profits.

The scammers ask the victim to invest the same large amount again, promising them that the investment is unlikely to fail a second time. However, the investment fails again. And at this point the victim starts losing money they didn't have before they got involved in the scam.

STAGE 6. The victim becomes stressed and they don't understand why they are losing huge sums of money. They hesitate and begin asking questions.

A conflict occurs in their brain. Intellectually, they know something is badly wrong and feel deeply worried they are being scammed. But, on the other hand, they still believe the scammers' advice because of the profits they made previously in the beginning.

The scammer repeatedly tells the victim the only way to earn back their money is to keep investing large amounts. They also add time pressure and tell the victim they don't have much time left to invest. For example, they may claim the investment website/platform will crash soon due to a power cut, or they may claim that investment rates will become unfavourable if they keep hesitating and wasting time.

All of this psychological pressure causes the victim's brain to short-circuit. They begin making emotional decisions based on pure hope, fantasy and the desperation to win back the money they have lost. Their desperation overpowers their rational thinking and they ignore all the warning signs that they are literally being scammed. They mentally spiral out of control, like a gambler at a casino, and decide to make more large investments, for the 3rd or 4rth or 5rth time etc., until they have potentially lost thousands of dollars/pounds/euros.

Eventually, the victim fully realises what has happened, but only until it's too late, when they've lost a couple grand, five grand or ten grand or even all of their savings 😲 .

Meanwhile, the scammers keep trying to convince the victim to invest more money because they SIMPLY DO NOT CARE.

WHAT HAPPENS TO THE STOLEN MONEY?

The cryptocurrency, which the victim transfers to the scammer's crypto account, is funnelled through various cryptocurrency accounts (which are encrypted and therefore untraceable) and through SHELL companies. The criminal syndicates behind crypto scams, use the money to buy properties in London and Pieces of Art 🎨 worth millions, Private Jets 🛫 etc. And the syndicates will often pay insiders to not question where the money is coming from. This process makes it impossible for the authorities to trace the money.

CONCLUSION

On Jamaa the Hi/Hello, Looking for Marriage 💖 posts are not simply women looking for attention. Posts like this get thousands of views, especially if the pfp is of a semi-naked woman, whilst more serious posts struggle to get any attention. They are deliberately designed to farm as many views as possible and attract 🪝 someone who doesn't realise they are being drawn into a scam. They could be depressed, grieving the loss of a loved one, financially insecure, have an undiagnosed cognitive impairment or have some other problem in their life which makes them more emotionally vulnerable to being scammed. And the sophisticated nature of the romance+investment scam psychologically manipulates and convinces them that they have found a genuine money-making opportunity.

Jamma and Muzz users need to be extremely careful of Chat requests and complements from fake accounts.

The Mind Behind Small Joys
Sometimes happiness is not a big event.
Sometimes it is cold water when you are tired.
A meal that tastes exactly the way you wanted.
Fresh bedsheets after a long day.
A song that catches you in the right mood.
A random conversation that somehow makes the whole day lighter.
Nothing dramatic happened.
Life did not suddenly become perfect.
You just felt good for a moment.
And I think we underestimate those moments because they look too ordinary to deserve a name.
The mind is strange. It can spend hours worrying about tomorrow and replaying yesterday, then suddenly become completely present because someone said something funny at the right time.
For a few seconds, there is no unfinished business.
No imaginary conversation.
No five-year plan.
Just laughter.
Maybe that is why small joys matter.
They remind us that life is not only made of the things we are trying to fix.
There are still little pockets of goodness hiding inside an ordinary Tuesday.
And you do not need to make them bigger than they are.
Let the good thing be good.

Laugh at the silly joke.
Sit outside for five minutes.
Buy the snack.
Admire the sky.
Be unnecessarily happy about something small.
The world already gives us enough reasons to worry.
We do not need to interrogate every reason to smile.
