Why do so many newlyweds feel the need to launch a YouTube channel or TikTok page the moment they get married?
Wallāhi, not every beautiful moment needs an audience.
Marriage is a private covenant and a precious blessing from Allāh. The more you protect your home from unnecessary exposure, the more room there is for sincerity, peace, and genuine happiness.
The evil eye is real, and a believer should not be careless about exposing every blessing they have. Constantly putting your relationship, your private moments, and your happiness on display can also invite unnecessary attention, envy, comparison, and fitnah.
There is barakah in privacy.
Not every laugh needs to be recorded.
Not every date needs to be posted.
Not every anniversary needs an audience.
Not every disagreement needs to become content.
Not every blessing needs to be shown to strangers.
Your spouse is not your content.
Your marriage is not a performance.
Build a home where you can love each other without wondering how many people are watching.
☝️ The Prophet ﷺ said:☝️
“Seek help in fulfilling your needs by being discreet, for everyone who is blessed is envied.”
Reported by al-Ṭabarānī.
At the same time, we should not assume that every hardship in a marriage is caused by the evil eye. Rather, protect your blessings, maintain appropriate privacy, make adhkār and duʿā, and place your trust in Allāh.
May Allāh protect our marriages from envy, fitnah, unnecessary exposure, and every form of harm. May He place sakinah, mawaddah and raḥmah in our homes and make our marriages a means of drawing closer to Him.
