Ive heard people say Hijab is a personal matter. 🧕🏽☪️ It makes sense to me when you are living a life just as you, as an individual. But when you are part of an ecosystem, it impacts your family. It is not personal any more. 👨👩👧👦
For a father, his hijab or lack thereof is observed by his children. His sons take him as a role model. The way he carries himself, is the way the sons carry themselves in society. If this father has daughters, the expectations he sets with his hijab are the expectations his daughters have from men around them. 🧔🏽♂️👨👧
The same goes for the mother. The way she observes hijab is how her sons understand the boundaries they operate with. And the way she carries her hijab, iis how her daughters will understand the essence of hijab. 👩👧👦
Having said all of this, I think the reason why all this becomes controversial is because none of us is willing to accept that our Hijab is more powerful than we make it out to be.
To do or not to do, that is the question. For both men and women.
Must pit this out there as a Shia Muslim.
Ive always felt that the differences between Shias and Sunnis are only toxic when either side chooses to make them so.
While I don't believe the two are exactly the same, a core distinction for me is our observance of the tragedy of Karbala. Many of my Sunni friends have always been incredibly respectful and mindful of my Shia beliefs, even participating in my observances in Pakistan and the US.
Toxicity on social media often stems from bad actors, as my personal experiences have been overwhelmingly positive. 🤝🙏
Aslmk, I’m new to this platform and have been using it for the past 2–3 days. Yesterday, I was chatting with a girl and answering her questions. Within a few minutes, she asked for my phone number. The moment I shared it, she unmatched me.
Today, another girl asked for my number as well. Interestingly, both gave the same reason — that they do not use this app much and do not like its user interface.
What do you guys think? Could this be some sort of scam?
