I’ve noticed something quite often, especially in marriage bios and conversations when people are getting to know each other. A lot of people say, “I’m looking for someone who can balance Deen and Dunya.”
And every time I read or hear this, I genuinely wonder what people actually mean by it.
What exactly are we trying to balance here?
As far as I understand, balance usually means giving equal importance to two things. So when someone says they want to balance Deen and Dunya, does that mean 50% Deen and 50% Dunya?
Because I always thought our purpose in this world was to worship Allah, follow His guidance, and prepare ourselves for the Akhirah. We are not here permanently. This Dunya is temporary, and everything we do here should ultimately be connected to our Akhirah.
Now, I’m not saying we should leave our jobs, stop earning money, avoid enjoying life, or abandon our worldly responsibilities. Of course not. Islam teaches us to fulfil our responsibilities too.
But shouldn’t Deen be the foundation of our Dunya rather than something we are trying to balance against it?
What surprises me even more is that sometimes people talk so confidently about balancing Deen and Dunya, but how much effort are we actually putting into understanding our own religion?
How many of us know about the Prophets and their lives? How many of us know about the Sahaba and their sacrifices? How much do we know about the Ahle Bait, the hardships they faced, and the sacrifices they made for Islam? What about the martyrs who gave everything for their faith?
These aren’t just names or stories from history. These are people whose lives and sacrifices every Muslim should at least make an effort to learn about.
I’m not claiming to be an Islamic scholar or someone who knows everything about Deen. I have a lot to learn myself. But I genuinely believe that if we can spend years learning about business, careers, technology, fashion, and everything else happening in the world, surely we can dedicate some of that time to understanding our religion.
And that’s where my question comes from.
How can we talk about balancing Deen and Dunya when we haven’t even made an effort to understand what our Deen teaches us?
Maybe the problem isn’t the word itself, but how casually we use it without understanding its meaning.
I personally don’t believe Deen and Dunya should be treated as two separate things competing for our attention. Our Deen should guide how we earn, how we behave, how we treat people, how we build relationships, and how we live our everyday lives.
Because at the end of the day, our Dunya will come to an end, but our Akhirah is forever.
And I already know that some people might find this post offensive or label this thinking as too religious, conservative, or old-fashioned. Unfortunately, we have reached a point where even talking about prioritizing Deen can make some people uncomfortable.
Disagreement is completely fine. But if you’re going to disagree, at least try to understand the point before turning it into an argument. Being modern doesn’t mean we should become disconnected from our religion.
My point is simple: Don’t try to fit Deen into your Dunya. Try to live your Dunya according to your Deen.
May Allah give all of us Hidayah, including myself, increase our knowledge, and guide us towards what is right. Ameen.

What is wrong with drivers in the GTA? So many unhinged psychotic people. Like literally npcs from the game gta. Yesterday I was driving in Oakville to a destination and I’m in the right lane and there’s literally a huge semi truck in front of me. I am going the speed and I see in my rear view mirror a young white guy with a cap looking back at me flailing his arms. Like asking me to hurry up. Like holy man. Did you guys drop your brains at home? Have patience. Do you want me to crash into the truck?
Or if I’m in left lane and I’m going five or more above the speed limit and I have to let’s say turn left after four lights someone will start tailgating. What is wrong with dimwits.
LEARNSOME DANNNM PATIENCE.

The women on this app are brainwashed feminaziiis. All of them. No exception. I’m a guy so it’s ok for me to go out have fun and have female friends but my wife will not be allowed to have male friends.
Femcels will say that khadijah was a business woman etc. women want super expensive mahr. A woman should not be educated. Her education should be at home how to cook clean and do chores. The man should earn. Simple.
Don’t give me this bs nonsense of career finding myself nonsense. That’s just indirectly saying I want to sleep with a guy and have fun take off my scarf and shake my behind.
Also to my fellow men out there don’t worry about taghut western laws. You can marry four wives in Canada and USA. Don’t let the law stop you.
A man earns. Don’t let your wives have any freedom. She should serve you and your parents.
Where can I meet a Syrian man in Toronto I’m tireeeed
