Anyways just feel lonely at night thinking themselves would be nice to have someone to talk to and laugh with. Rather than just in your thoughts and doom scrolling.
Why lie? Why not just say, "You're not what I'm looking for"? It is easy and healthier.
Assalamu alaikum everyone. I’m sharing something personal, hoping for some honest and respectful perspectives.
I’m originally from Pakistan and have been searching for a spouse with sincere intentions. I run my own black car service in the Bay Area. Alhamdulillah, I earn a good living, every penny I earn is halal, and I’ve worked hard to build the life I have today.
But finding someone has been challenging, especially because my immigration situation is still unresolved. Often, when I match with someone, my papers are among the first things they ask about. I understand that stability and future plans matter in marriage, and I’m willing to discuss those things openly. What hurts is feeling judged or dismissed before someone gets to know my character, values, or intentions.
At times, I’ve felt that my own community has turned its back on me. Many of our parents came here as immigrants and worked incredibly hard—driving taxis, earning minimum wage, and making sacrifices so their children could have a better future. Those were honorable beginnings. I wish we could extend that same respect to people building their lives today.
Repeated experiences like this have left me disappointed and, sometimes, doubting myself. I find myself asking: Where am I falling short? Does the life I’ve built count for so little because of my immigration situation?
I’m not saying anyone owes me a match or that people shouldn’t have preferences. But even when we aren’t compatible, surely we can treat each other with dignity.
Has anyone else experienced this? How do you stay hopeful and protect your self-worth while searching for a spouse? I’d appreciate honest advice, offered with kindness.
