I met a girl who lived in Bandung, Indonesia. We talked for the first time very casually, just a simple hello-hi conversation. She didn’t show much interest at first, but from time to time I would message her and she would reply. Later, she told me that she was engaged to another guy. After hearing that, I didn’t think it was right to disturb her anymore.
Then, when I was coming to Bandung, for some reason she came into my mind again, so I told her that I was coming. This time, she agreed to meet me. We met and spent the whole day together.
During our time together, she told me that she only agreed to meet because her engagement had ended. Whatever the reasons were, I won’t mention them here because every woman deserves privacy.
Anyway, during that meeting I asked her:
“I’m 38 years old and you are 23. Are you really ready to walk with me for a lifetime despite the age difference?”
She replied:
“Age is just a number. What matters is chemistry and understanding.”
Then I proposed marriage to her and told her that I wanted a halal relationship. I said:
“That’s why I don’t want to make you my girlfriend. I want to make you my wife.”
At the end, she said:
“I will do Istikhara.”
I said okay.
She also told me:
“I took permission from my mother before coming to meet you.”
That honestly made me feel really good.
Then she promised that on Sunday she would take leave from work and meet me again. I said okay.
But after that, 10 days passed.
She blocked me on WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and Muzz, and she never replied to a single one of my messages.
Now what should I think?
Was she only looking for a man for one day who would spend money on her, take her out, feed her, and then get blocked afterward?
I have noticed that when a man is honest and sincere, women often just play games with him.
And if a boy did the exact same thing to a girl, then what would people say?
